Tomball Invited to Help Shape Future of Downtown at July 10 Community Meeting
In a move that could redefine the heart of downtown Tomball, the Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) is inviting residents to attend the first public meeting for the proposed redevelopment of the First Baptist Church property. The open-house style event will be held on Thursday, July 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church’s Fellowship Hall, located at 401 Oxford St, Tomball, TX 77375.
This redevelopment marks a pivotal moment for the Tomball community, offering a rare opportunity to influence the design and purpose of a central property steeped in local history. The TEDC is calling on residents, business owners, and community stakeholders to join the conversation and lend their voices to help shape the vision for what will become one of downtown Tomball’s signature spaces.
A New Chapter for a Familiar Landmark
The First Baptist Church of Tomball, a longtime downtown landmark, is preparing to begin a new chapter at its recently developed campus located at 29100 Tomball Parkway. As the congregation transitions to this modern facility, the former church property in the heart of downtown becomes available for redevelopment—a key opportunity the Tomball Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) views as a catalyst for downtown revitalization. TEDC hopes to honor the site’s legacy while reimagining it to support Tomball’s evolving economic and community needs.
“The redevelopment of this property represents more than just a building project,” said Kelly Violette, Executive Director of the Tomball Economic Development Corporation. “It’s an opportunity to reimagine downtown in a way that celebrates our heritage, embraces thoughtful growth, and reflects the community’s shared goals.”

What Community Members Can Expect at the Meeting
The July 10 meeting is designed to be accessible and engaging for all. Attendees can drop in at any time during the two-hour window. The format will feature a walk-through of project displays, visual concept boards, and one-on-one conversations with TEDC staff, project planners, and city leaders. Highlights include:
- A project overview and explanation of redevelopment goals
- Preliminary visual concepts for the site’s potential use
- Q&A sessions with project representatives
- Opportunities to submit public input and ideas
Community participation is central to the process. Feedback collected during the meeting will be considered as the TEDC shapes the project’s next phases.
Why It Matters to Tomball
For residents, the event is more than a civic obligation—it’s a chance to directly influence the future of a beloved part of town. “Downtown Tomball is the cultural and economic core of our city,” Violette said. “When the community shows up to help guide its transformation, we all benefit from a stronger, more inclusive vision of what Tomball can become.”
The redevelopment initiative also aligns with broader goals to increase walkability, enhance public spaces, attract investment, and create places where families, entrepreneurs, and visitors feel welcome.
How to Get Involved
Residents are encouraged to bring their ideas and enthusiasm—and even to invite a neighbor or friend. “Your participation and support are vital to ensuring this project reflects the vision and needs of our community,” the TEDC emphasized in its announcement.
