COMMUNICATION
  • If you SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING. Please call our local Deputies non-emergency number if you see suspicious activity, theft, a vehicle parked for an extended period of time, or anything that does not seem right. There is no such thing as a nuisance call.
  • Communication is “sending, giving, or exchanging information and ideas. “Community” and “communication” have the same root word, which means a coming together. So it makes sense that good communication can lead to communities.
  • Please RESPOND to violations if you think they are being mishandled / or if more time is needed.
  • Have you noticed all the new neighbors that have joined Concord Colony?! One easy way to make friends and build a community is by introducing yourself to new neighbors that have moved in or that you see on your walk.
  • Have you joined us on Facebook yet? Its another great way to contact neighbors, make announcements, and spread some joy! www.facebook.com/groups/ConcordColony

**HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE ARE YOU READY?**

DID YOU KNOW?
SECURITY
  • There have been more neighbors taking notice of suspicious activity and calling the Deputies office. We are ever grateful to those who keep an eye out for their fellow neighbors and neighborhood. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.
  • Making sure your home is visible at night is a VERY EASY WAY to avoid unwanted “visitors”. Keeping your front porch light, garage light, flood lights, and back yard well lit is the best deterrent.
  • Making sure your home isn’t inviting to strangers is key. LOCK YOUR DOORS, TURN
OUTDOOR LIGHTS ON, TRIM YOUR HEDGES AND KEEP WINDOWS VISIBLE FROM THE STREET, CLOSE YOUR GATE, LOCK YOUR CAR. All these little things can ad up to a safer home and neighborhood.
  • Thank you for looking out for your neighbors and our neighborhood- it takes a village!
ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY BILLS
  • Switching to LED light bulbs that use much less energy can keep your electric bill down.
  • Using timers and apps from your phone can also help cut costs on your electric bill and make it seem like someone is home at all times.
  • Fall is the best time to shop for new electric companies. powertochoose.com makes it very easy to see options and going rates.
PEST CONTROL
  • Did you know our community has a subscription of pest control? We currently have a contract with a pest company that comes out and sprays our community at night.
  • A way to help with the insect problem is by being proactive. You can go to Home Depot or Amazon and purchase preventative care products.
  • Items such as tablets/pellets that you can put/sprinkle in sitting water in your gutters, yard, and fountains to help kill mosquito eggs before they hatch. You can even put these items out when you know we will be getting rain.
  • Spraying the interior and exterior of your house before it rains can help deter certain insects from wanting to make your home-their home. You can easily do all this yourself or hire a company to come out and assist.
PREVENT HOT CAR DEATHS
  • Look before you lock-open the back door and look in the backseat to assure everyone is out of the car.(even if you think you are childless)
  • Keep something you need in the backseat- put your cellphone, briefcase, computer, ID, etc beside your child’s seat so that you will have to go to the backseat.
  • Always lock the door, even if you park in the garage- keep doors locked so that curious children can’t get in.
  • Put keys and fobs away-children want to play with keys and will be able to get into a vehicle without anyones
    knowledge
  • Have a plan with your childcare provider- if your child does not show up to daycare without prior notice, someone
should call to locate the child.
  • If you see something- do something! If you see a child alone in a car do not hesitate to call 911.
