Located at North Eldridge Parkway and Tanner Road, Smookies Kitchen & Catering brings down-home comfort food to the West Houston area. From gumbo to po' boys, chicken and waffles to burgers, and orange salmon to fettuccine Alfredo, they have something for everyone. All of their dishes are made with love out of a passion for cooking that goes back to early childhood. About The Chef
Native Houstonian Chef Jay (JaVunn Kersee) was born in raised in the Acres Homes community of Houston, growing up with her grandmother, Mary Mclemore. Good cooks run in her family on both sides and from an early age, she was surrounded by influencers from watching her grandmother Barbara King prepare old fashioned hot tamales and sweet potato pies, to Mary Lee whipping up Thanksgiving meals to feed the homeless. Latrevia Kersee, JaVunn's mom, is an amazing cook as well. Everyone always loved JaVunn's cooking and she knew how to bring people together with love, joy, laughter and of course, good food. After having two children and meeting the love of her life, she decided to become a chef and Smookies was born.
