Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational Returns Dec. 8-10

November 11 2022

Another talent-filled boys’ basketball tournament field returns to CFISD for the 13th annual Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational, scheduled for Dec. 8-10 at three high school campuses and the Berry Center. The event is hosted by the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) in partnership with Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Houston Methodist West Hospital.

The three-day tournament features Premier Sponsors Wainwright Dental & Associates, P.C., Spradley Endodontics and Spring Cypress Oral Surgery and Implant Center, in addition to Cypress Lakes High School graduate De’Aaron Fox, now in his sixth NBA season with the Sacramento Kings. Proceeds from the tournament will help fund Cy-Fair Educational Foundation scholarships for graduating CFISD seniors and staff development programs.

Cy-Fair and Cypress Creek high schools will join the 12 other CFISD boys’ basketball teams in competing in the 13th annual Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational, which will be held Dec. 8-10 at Bridgeland, Cy-Fair and Cypress Ranch high schools and the Berry Center.

CFISD’s 12 high school boys’ basketball teams will participate in the tournament, with Bridgeland, Cy-Fair and Cypress Ranch high schools serving as host sites. Cypress Falls and Cypress Creek high schools enter the 2022-2023 season ranked in the top 25 for the state according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Also included in the tournament are four teams—Alvin Shadow Creek, Dickinson, Silsbee and South Grand Prairie—ranked in their respective TABC state polls.

The championship game is set for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Berry Center.

Sponsorship opportunities are available on the CFEF website

This year, the Final Four Fan Jam truck will make an appearance at the Berry Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 10 to help promote literacy. The interactive pop-up truck features activities including basketball goals, mascot appearances, giveaways and a reading nook. Among the many photo opportunities will include the Men’s Final Four trophy. Attendees are encouraged to bring books appropriate for elementary school students, as they will be used in the Read to the Final Four literacy program.

Tournament information is available on the Cy-Hoops webpage of the Berry Center website.
