Fulshear Simonton Fire Department to Share Joy of Season with Residents
Tonight, Santa will be driving through Cross Creek Ranch and Polo Ranch on one of the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department's ladder trucks to spread holiday cheer with area residents. But don't worry, they will be traveling through all of the neighborhoods they serve - an area covering 109 square miles - over the coming days.
Adorning a ladder truck with lights and handmade decorations, FSFD staff will take to the streets to bring smiles to kids' faces with Santa himself. This marks the second year that the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department has orchestrated this beloved community outreach opportunity, which not only brings citizens together, but also FSFD staff in the making of the adorned truck.
"Our staff helps to make the decorations. They cut and paint the wood used to decorate the truck and it's a great team building opportunity," said Brandi Crone with the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department.
One of their staff members is happy to put on the red suit each year and play the role of Santa. The FSFD team is delighted to put this on each year as a way to bring cheer and joy to the community in a time when it is so desperately needed, especially for those who are experiencing hardship.
The truck will drive by on designated streets to wave to spectators. To keep everyone safe, the truck will not make any stops or pass out any candy or other items. FSFD staff must consider canopy overhead of trees because of the height of the ladder truck, as well as avoid streets where many cars are parked on the roadway. Safety is their top priority.
To find out where tonight's route will take the truck, go to the FSFD's Facebook page, where you can also stay in the loop on other Santa tours over the coming days through additional neighborhoods.
