Upcoming Katy ISD Board Meeting Invites All Community Voices to the Table
Whether you’re a parent with school-aged children, an empty-nester, or a lifelong Katy resident, the upcoming Regular Board Meeting of the Katy ISD Board of Trustees is an opportunity to be part of the decisions shaping local education.
Scheduled for Monday, September 22, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., the meeting will take place in the Board Room of the Education Support Complex, located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494. A livestream will also be available at katyisd.org, with archived videos posted within seven days and maintained for two years.
Why Participation Matters
Attending a school board meeting may seem like something reserved for PTA members or teachers—but in truth, every Katy ISD resident is impacted by the decisions made at the board level. From school safety, student programs, and district budgets to tax rates and curriculum, these meetings are where the conversation happens.
The September 22 agenda includes major items such as:
- The 2025-2026 Maintenance & Operations and Debt Service tax rate adoption
- A presentation on Katy ISD’s Strategic Plan Result 2.3: Personalized Learning Experiences
- A report on House Bill 3 5-year goals and targets
- A comprehensive look at the Education Foundation’s impact
- Budget amendments, employee health plan approvals, and district performance objectives
These discussions aren’t just administrative—they affect every classroom, every campus, and every taxpayer across the district.

How to Speak at the Meeting
Katy ISD welcomes public participation. Grayson Lakes residents may sign up to speak during the Open Forum portion of the meeting by emailing publicspeakers@katyisd.org by 2:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting. The email should include:
- Full name and mailing address
- Specific agenda item(s) (if applicable)
- Whether you reside in Katy ISD and if you have children attending Katy ISD schools
Speakers should plan to arrive 15 minutes early. The first 20 speakers who registered properly will be called forward during Public Comment at approximately 5:00 p.m. Comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker, and no audiovisuals or props are permitted. The Board does not engage in back-and-forth dialogue during this session, per Texas law.
Community Engagement Is for Everyone
Engagement isn’t just for parents of current students. Alumni, future parents, educators, and retirees all play a role in ensuring Katy ISD remains a district of excellence.
Not comfortable speaking? You can still participate by attending or watching the livestream and staying informed. Those with questions or concerns are also encouraged to go through the district’s administrative channels, especially if their topic involves specific student or personnel matters.
Katy ISD’s commitment to transparency and public involvement is evident in its open forum structure, livestreaming policy, and detailed agendas. But it only works when the community shows up—in the room, on the record, or simply by listening.
What’s Next
If you can’t make the September 22 meeting, the next Board Work Study Meeting is scheduled for October 20, followed by the next Regular Board Meeting on October 27, 2025. In the meantime, residents can review meeting recordings, agenda packets, and district policies at katyisd.org/board.
