Supporting Child Advocacy: FRIENDS of Fort Bend Hosts Spring Fling Event

March 17 2024

Get ready for a heartwarming celebration this year as the FRIENDS of Child Advocates of Fort Bend gears up to host its annual membership social, Spring Fling on Thursday, April 4 at the beautiful residence of Diane and Roger Schomburg in Sugar Land. Mark your calendars for an evening of fun, socializing and an interesting educational presentation from Enchanted Forest on the best spring plants for your garden!

FRIENDS of Child Advocates of Fort Bend is a remarkable auxiliary volunteer group dedicated to supporting the Child Advocates of Fort Bend (CAFB) in their mission to improve the lives of children in the foster care system. This group not only hosts enjoyable events throughout the year but also provide significant funding for needs that are often overlooked - from backpacks filled with school supplies, funding summer camp tuitions, facilitating tutoring sessions, to providing caps and gowns for graduating seniors and computers for college students.

With over 100 dedicated members, FRIENDS is managed by a Council that presents extensive volunteer opportunities and organizes social gatherings throughout the year. They gladly welcome new members with an annual membership fee of only $40 a year.

Child Advocates of Fort Bend, supported by FRIENDS, is a non-profit agency unwaveringly committed to ending child abuse. Working to strengthen the voice of the child, healing the hurt, and breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect, CAFB aims to positively impact families in Fort Bend and surrounding counties. CAFB, through its Court Appointed Special Advocates Program (CASATM), Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) along with over 200 trained community volunteer advocates, continuously works to improve the lives of more than 400 children each month and has served more than 23,000 children since its inception in 1991.
