Katy Launches Hometown Heroes Banner Program Honoring Local Veterans and Active-Duty Military
A powerful tribute is coming to Old Katy, one that blends deep community pride with heartfelt gratitude. The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Katy, has launched the Hometown Heroes Banner Program to honor veterans and active-duty military who call—or once called—Katy home.
The program will feature beautiful banners lining George Bush Drive, spanning Katy Heritage Park to the VFW Post 9182 in Katy, each displaying the name, photo, and branch of service of a local hero. The banners will be on display for a minimum of eight weeks during a designated recognition period, serving as a visible “thank you” to those who have worn the uniform and defended freedom.
Hometown Heroes Banners, which launched its first banner program in Harrisburg, PA in 2006, specializes in creating high-quality tribute banners honoring military service members, veterans, first responders, and community heroes. Partnering with communities nationwide, they deliver durable, customizable banners that celebrate local pride and lasting recognition.

Adrienne Davitz, Vice President of Membership & Community Relations for the Katy Area Chamber, said the community response is already growing: “Something truly special is coming to Katy! I’m incredibly honored and excited to help launch the Hometown Heroes Banner Program through the Katy Area Chamber, in proud partnership with the Official - City of Katy!”
The banners are available for veterans and active-duty military personnel who are or were residents of the City of Katy and served during one of several historical eras, including WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam Conflict, Persian Gulf War, Cold War, and the Global War on Terror.
Davitz explained the purpose behind the effort: “This program is a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women of our community who have served—or are currently serving—in our Armed Forces. Soon, banners will line George Bush Drive, proudly displaying the names and faces of local heroes who have made tremendous sacrifices for our freedom.”

The community is encouraged to get involved by nominating heroes or sponsoring a banner for $150 each. After the display period, banners may be archived for future reuse, ensuring their legacy continues.
Davitz emphasized the emotional impact this program will bring: “This is more than just a banner—it’s a visible reminder of the courage, commitment, and heart of those who’ve defended our country. I can’t wait to see our community come together to honor our hometown heroes in such a meaningful way. Let’s do this Katy, Texas!”
