August 23 2024

An impressive group of aspiring young entrepreneurs and leaders from Katy ISD continues to make their mark. This summer they showcased their business acumen at the annual Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference held in Orlando, Florida. Over a dozen Katy ISD students left with distinguished awards.

Participating students from Seven Lakes High School were noteworthy, with Archana Arangil, Siri Ramineni and Akshitha Varre clinching first place in the Business Plan category. Demonstrating further Katy ISD success, Tompkins High School student, Keerthana Thatikonda, won first place in Word Processing.

“It is great to have so many of our students honored at the national conference, which is attended by thousands of students each year,” expressed Jeannie Knierim, Career and Technical Education Director for Katy ISD. Indeed, Katy ISD students did not disappoint, earning other awards that deserve recognition.

At Cinco Ranch High School, Rebecca Jung earned 9th Place in Client Service, and Tiffany Kim took 10th Place in Website Coding and Development. Several students from Jordan High School also excelled, with Jeffrey Au and Jaiden Suh both securing 7th Place in Advertising and Introduction to Business Communication respectively.

Chimamanda Agbaroji, Madison Huang, and Emily Powell of Tompkins High School also displayed remarkable performances in their respective fields.

The FBLA, the conference host, is the largest business organization for junior high and high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) students. It currently boasts over 200,000 members. The FBLA originated in 1937, with the goal to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences.

As these young entrepreneurs and leaders continue to excel, they are setting a powerful example for their peers and inspiring future generations to pursue their passions in business and leadership. Congratulations to all the participants for their remarkable performances and for bringing pride to Katy ISD.
