Safer Neighborhoods and Crime Prevention
Commissioner Ramsey championed measures to enhance neighborhood safety in 2024, with an emphasis on the contract deputy patrol program, which has helped reduce crime compared to neighboring areas. Investments included:
- $1.1 million redirected to address the stray animal crisis.
- $4.1 million allocated for increased patrols in Precinct 3 parks and surrounding areas.
- $100,000+ spent on expanding the license plate reader network, improving crime deterrence and solving capabilities.

Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability
In a year marked by careful fiscal management, Commissioner Ramsey raised concerns over several contracts and programs, resulting in their cancellation, pausing, or scrutiny at the state level. These included:
- $5.6 million allocated to DEMA Consulting.
- $45.5 million for ACCESS Harris.
- $19 million for the Uplift Guaranteed Income Program.
Additionally, Commissioner Ramsey advocated for Harris Health to take responsibility for $20 million in jail-related healthcare costs, alleviating the burden on Harris County’s general fund.
Infrastructure and Maintenance
Significant progress was made in maintaining and improving infrastructure:
- 214.5 miles of ditches cleared to improve drainage.
- 10,226 service requests completed.
- $10 million+ invested in residential concrete roadway repairs, including inlets, manholes, and curbs.

Precinct 3’s efforts in community engagement focused on recreation, education, and support:
- Community Centers hosted 300,000+ visitors and enrolled 2,400+ kids in summer programs, serving as safe havens during natural disasters.
- Parks hosted 1,200 recreational events, restocked 10,300+ fish, and recorded 2,523 facility reservations.
- Bus Program served 30,000 passengers, traveling over 248,123 miles.

Emergency Response and Recovery
Precinct 3 played a critical role in disaster response during derecho storms and Tropical Storm Beryl:
- Answered over 12,000 calls for storm assistance.
- Removed 1,000,000+ cubic yards of storm debris—enough to fill over 151 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
