Fort Bend County Opens FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers to Support Residents After Hurricane Beryl
In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, Fort Bend County is opening FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) this week to assist residents who are grappling with recovery efforts. The centers will be operational from Monday, August 12 to Saturday, August 17, 2024, excluding Sunday.
The designated opening times are from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, and from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday. Two locations have been prepared for these recovery operations - the Fort Bend County Public Transportation at 3737 Bamore Road in Rosenberg, and the William Travis Building at 301 Jackson Street in Richmond.
The DRCs have been designed to provide essential information and assistance in the aftermath of the disaster. Visiting residents will have the opportunity to learn about disaster assistance programs, apply for disaster assistance, and check the status of their FEMA applications.

In addition, the centers will provide clarity on FEMA notices or letters, offer guidance for housing and rental assistance, give referrals to appropriate agencies, and arrange meetings with a Small Business Administration (SBA) agent for affected businesses.
To optimize the process and efficiency of the recovery operations, residents are encouraged to apply to FEMA online, by phone, or using the FEMA App prior to visiting a center. Applications can be submitted through the FEMA website at disasterassistance.gov or via the FEMA App. Alternatively, residents can call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Assistance is available in most languages and for those using relay services, FEMA can be given the contact number for that specific service.
