As summer approaches in Katy and across the Houston area, Typhoon Texas Waterpark is preparing to welcome thousands of families back for another season of splash-filled fun — and that preparation starts with hiring more than 1,000 seasonal employees from the local community.

The Katy waterpark announced the launch of its 2026 seasonal hiring campaign on March 16, opening a wide range of job opportunities for individuals ages 15 and older. For many local teens, students, and first-time job seekers in Katy, Fulshear, and surrounding Fort Bend County communities, these positions offer a chance to gain valuable work experience while becoming part of a team dedicated to creating memorable summer moments for guests.

Applications are now open online, and park officials say they expect strong interest as summer job searches begin across the region.

Opportunities for First-Time Job Seekers and Students in Katy

Typhoon Texas is recruiting team members across multiple departments as it prepares for the busy summer season. Available roles include lifeguards and water safety staff, admissions attendants, food and beverage team members, park services staff, and other guest-facing positions throughout the park.

These roles are often among the first employment opportunities for local teenagers and college students looking to build workplace skills, earn summer income, and gain experience in customer service, teamwork, and leadership.

“At Typhoon Texas Waterpark, our team members are at the heart of the guest experience,” said John Pham, vice president of marketing. “We’re looking for energetic individuals who enjoy working with people and want to be part of a fun, supportive team while helping guests create lasting summer memories.”

Team members receive competitive pay and a variety of perks, including free tickets for friends and family, discounted food and retail purchases inside the park, scholarship opportunities, and leadership development programs designed to help young workers build confidence and job-ready skills.

For many employees, the experience goes beyond a seasonal paycheck. Working at the park often becomes a summer community of its own, where local students meet new friends and gain real-world experience before heading back to school in the fall.

A Popular Summer Destination in Katy and Greater Houston

Located in Katy near Katy Mills Mall the rapidly growing western corridor of the Houston metro area, Typhoon Texas Waterpark has become a familiar summer destination for families throughout Katy, Cypress, Fulshear, and surrounding communities.

Since opening its Houston-area location in 2016, the park has drawn visitors with its mix of high-thrill water slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, children’s splash areas, and seasonal events designed for guests of all ages. The Katy park is part of the broader Typhoon Texas brand, which also operates a sister waterpark in Austin, giving season pass holders access to both locations.

Each summer, the park welcomes thousands of guests from across the Greater Houston region, making seasonal hiring a significant opportunity for local youth employment and hospitality experience.

Limited-Time St. Patrick’s Day Season Pass Deal

Alongside the hiring announcement, Typhoon Texas is also offering a limited-time St. Patrick’s Day promotion for guests planning ahead for the 2026 summer season.

Through March 18 at 9 a.m., visitors can purchase a Typhoon Texas Houston season pass for $64.99, which includes unlimited access to both the Houston and Austin waterparks throughout the 2026 season.

Season pass holders receive several additional perks, including early access to the park, discounted guest tickets, 15% off food, non-alcoholic beverages, cabanas, and retail purchases, as well as entry to all 2026 in-park events. The pass also includes a contactless wristband for easy park entry.

For families planning multiple visits over the summer, the promotion offers one of the lowest prices of the season before regular pass pricing resumes.

What Happens Next for Job Applicants

Those interested in working at Typhoon Texas this summer are encouraged to apply early through the park’s website. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis throughout the hiring season as the park prepares to train new staff members ahead of opening.

With more than 1,000 positions available, park leaders say the hiring push reflects the scale of preparation required to safely operate one of the region’s largest seasonal attractions.

For many Katy-area residents, the summer season at Typhoon Texas represents more than just a place to cool off — it’s also a place where young workers take their first steps into the workforce while helping families across the Houston area create lasting memories.
