Description

The City of Brookshire invites residents and visitors across Waller County and Greater Houston to come together for the Juneteenth Parade & Festival, a day-long community celebration honoring freedom, heritage, and unity. Scheduled for Friday, June 19, this highly anticipated Brookshire Juneteenth event blends tradition, entertainment, and family-friendly activities into one meaningful experience.

From a lively parade led by a well-known grand marshal to an evening gospel celebration, the event offers multiple opportunities for families, neighbors, and visitors to connect while reflecting on the historical significance of Juneteenth in Texas.

Attendees can expect a full lineup of activities throughout the day, including outdoor festivities and indoor performances designed to engage all ages.

Event Highlights

  • Juneteenth Parade (12:00 PM)
    • Grand Marshal: DJ Chose
    • Parade begins at Brookshire Police Department (5100 US-90)
    • A festive kickoff featuring community groups, local pride, and cultural celebration
  • Family Fun Day (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM):
    • Live entertainment and music by Shone Gotti
    • Vendor booths and local businesses
    • Kid zone activities for families
    • Community gathering space for residents and visitors
  • Gospel Celebration (6:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
    • Held inside the Brookshire Convention Center
    • Special guests: Men of Hope
    • An evening of inspirational music and reflection to close out the day

In addition to entertainment, the event encourages community engagement through a youth contest open to elementary, junior high, and high school students, centered on the theme: “Why is Juneteenth Important?” Entries can be submitted via email to the City of Brookshire.

Residents are encouraged to arrive early for the parade, bring lawn chairs for outdoor festivities, and plan to stay throughout the day to experience everything the festival has to offer.
