Fogo de Chão Brings Authentic Brazilian Steakhouse Experience to Katy with New Location

July 03 2024

The culinary scene in Katy is about to heat up as the renowned Brazilian steakhouse, Fogo de Chão, establishes roots at 222 W Grand Parkway S, the former location of Harris County Smokehouse.

Fogo de Chão, meaning "ground fire", embodies the age-old tradition of the gaúchos of Southern Brazil, who mastered the art of roasting high-quality cuts of meat over an open fire, a method known as churrasco. The first Fogo de Chão opened in Southern Brazil in 1979, and since then, the brand has dedicated itself to elevating this centuries-old culinary technique into a memorable dining experience.

The diverse menu at Fogo de Chão includes specialties like Picanha, a traditional Brazilian cut of meat renowned for its tender texture and rich flavor. Their extensive menu also features a variety of proteins from split cold water lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, snow crab legs, to Fogo feijoada, a traditional black bean stew with sausage. A range of fresh seasonal salads, exotic vegetables, aged cheeses and cured meats are also available, catering to a variety of dietary preferences, including vegan and gluten-free options.

While Katy will make the fifth location in the Greater Houston Area, closely following the upcoming Cy-Fair location, Fogo de Chão already boasts an impressive global presence, with 58 restaurants across the United States and 16 more spread across Brazil, Mexico, and the Middle East.

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), Fogo de Chão in Katy is expected to undergo renovations beginning from September, with an estimated cost of $1.2 million. With the restaurant slated for completion by year's end, Katy residents and visitors alike can brace themselves for an exquisite Brazilian dining experience right at their doorstep.
