Dance Students Dazzle at Annual CFISD Dance ShowOffs

February 02 2024

Furthering a proud tradition of fostering talent and dedication, the annual CFISD Dance ShowOffs took center stage at the Berry Center on Jan. 25. High-school dance teams from across the district displayed their exceptional talents, showcasing routines ranging from jazz to contemporary, to pom performances.

Each of CFISD's 12 high schools was represented with two routines, a culmination of relentless hard work from more than 600 dancers in the district.

Among the attendees, the event was blessed with the presence of the district's new Superintendent, Dr. Doug Killian. Sandi Dunn, Cypress Ranch High School Classics head director, expressed her sense of honor at serving as the lead facilitator. “CFISD Dance ShowOffs is a yearly celebration showcasing our more than 600 dancers throughout the district. We showcased their dance abilities and raised enough funds to give scholarships to 14 of our seniors,” said Dunn.

The talents of the performers were met with more than just applause. As the event reached its conclusion, 14 All-District Dance Team seniors were announced as recipients of the 2024 All-District Dance Team Scholarships, totaling $8,000.

The scholarships were generously distributed among the dancers from various schools; with Isabella Carillo from Langham Creek Bailadoras, Alexis Devine from Bridgeland Belles, Kylie Eiskant from Bridgeland Belles, Mary Isabel Garcia from Cy-Fair Brigade, Christina Lafayette from Cypress Lakes Sterling Stars, Erial Lloyd from Langham Creek Bailadoras, Hillary Rivera Rodriguez from Cypress Park Flairs, Ella Robertson from Cypress Woods Crimson Cadettes, Emmi Sanchez from Cypress Ridge Dazzlers, Mya Sandoval from Cypress Ranch Classics, Marcella Tamez from Cypress Woods Crimson Cadettes, and Stacy Troung from Cypress Creek Silverados all receiving $500 each. Exceptionally, Annie Li from Cy-Fair Brigade and Kennedy Watson from Cypress Springs Panteras were each rewarded with a $1,000 scholarship.

"It was an honor to serve as lead facilitator this year, and as always, I was so proud of all the dancers’ and directors’ hard work put into this event," said Dunn.
