Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston Open New Rosenberg Facility, Expanding Youth Support and Community Services
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston, in collaboration with Commissioner Dexter L. McCoy, officially opened the doors of the new Boys and Girls Club facility in Rosenberg on June 13, 2024. The grand opening marked a significant milestone in the history of the organization's commitment towards the youth, as it expanded its roots to this new corner in Fort Bend County.
Positioned at the intersection of Avenue E and 2nd Street at 1820 Avenue E, the facility, which is being leased by the Boys and Girls Club from Fort Bend County, boasts an expansive full-size gymnasium, several classrooms, office space, and a versatile community space. The latter will also play host to special events conducted by Attack Poverty, an organization focused on fortifying under-resourced communities.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston have been relentless in their mission to serve over 50,000 children and teens annually. Their distinct programs emphasize after-school learning, mentorship, academic support, leadership building, and encouragement of positive youth outcomes.
Founded in 1952, the organization's vision has always been to "inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens." This new facility in Rosenberg is yet another step towards actualizing this vision, providing an environment that promotes health and wellness, sports and recreation, and character development in the local area.
With a construction cost of $5,190,000, funded by the Fort Bend County 2020 Parks Bond, this newly minted facility in Rosenberg will serve as a hub of opportunities for youth across the community.
