Tidy Up Tomball Returns April 11, 2026, Inviting the Community to Come Together for a Cleaner City

February 10 2026

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, residents across Tomball and surrounding communities will once again lace up their sneakers, grab gloves, and head out early for the next Tidy Up Tomball community cleanup. The bi-annual event begins with an 8:00 a.m. kickoff at 401 Houston Street in Tomball, bringing together families, businesses, schools, civic groups, and neighbors with a shared goal: keeping Tomball clean and welcoming.

Tidy Up Tomball was created to be simple, inclusive, and effective. Volunteers check in at the kickoff site, receive supplies and a route assignment, and head out to designated areas across the city. By late morning, teams return supplies, drop off filled trash bags at assigned locations, and enjoy the rest of the day knowing they helped make a visible difference.

What to Expect on Cleanup Day

The April 11 cleanup follows a well-organized schedule designed to keep volunteers safe, informed, and energized throughout the morning:

  • 8:00 a.m. – Kickoff begins and teams check in
  • 8:45 a.m. – Announcements, sponsor recognition, and a group photo
  • 9:00 a.m. – Teams head to assigned cleanup locations
  • 11:00 a.m. – Cleanup wraps up and supplies are returned

At check-in, each team will receive a route map, trash bags, gloves, safety vests, trash picker uppers, a first aid kit, a sharps container, bottled water, coffee, and breakfast. The event is designed to be accessible for volunteers of all ages, making it easy for families and first-time participants to get involved.

A Local Idea That Became a Community Movement

Tidy Up Tomball began in 2023 when local business owner Amanda Trickey noticed increasing litter as the city continued to grow. Influenced by a strong sense of environmental responsibility and her experience with The Big Event at Texas A&M University, she envisioned a community-led cleanup that could build long-term pride and accountability.

With support from fellow business owner Jonetta Barnett, the idea quickly gained momentum. After discussions with Mayor Lori Klein Quinn and a presentation to Tomball City Council, Tidy Up Tomball officially took shape. Within six months, the organization formed a board of directors, secured 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and hosted its first cleanup in fall 2023, drawing 180 volunteers and collecting 300 pounds of trash.

That early success laid the groundwork for what has since become a growing civic effort supported by dozens of local leaders and volunteers.

Impact by the Numbers

Since its founding, Tidy Up Tomball has hosted five cleanup events, engaging more than 1,300 on-site volunteers and removing an estimated 28,200 pounds of trash from public spaces throughout the city. Participation spans generations, with nearly half of volunteers under the age of 18 and strong involvement from families, school groups, churches, and local businesses.

Volunteers regularly come not only from Tomball, but also from nearby communities including Spring, Magnolia, Cypress, and Houston, reflecting a regional commitment to keeping Tomball clean.

Record-Breaking Momentum from Fall 2025

That momentum was on full display during the Fall 2025 cleanup, which set new records for both turnout and trash collected. More than 400 volunteers worked across 56 routes, collecting 13,300 pounds of trash in a single day—nearly matching the total from the previous four cleanups combined.

“We are incredibly proud of our community and what we accomplished together,” said Tidy Up Tomball President Amanda Trickey. “Seeing more than 400 volunteers show up to care for Tomball speaks volumes about the heart of this city. Every bag filled represents cleaner streets, safer spaces, and a stronger sense of pride in where we live.”

The organization also credited strong partnerships with Salem Lutheran Church and ongoing support from the City of Tomball Public Works, Police Department, and Fire Department for helping ensure safe and successful events.

“We continue to make an impact in our city, not only in how it looks, but in how connected people feel to it,” said Tidy Up Tomball Vice President Jonetta Barnett. “Every event brings new faces, returning families, school groups, churches, and businesses who want to give back. That kind of momentum is what keeps this initiative moving forward.”

How to Get Involved on April 11

Registration is now open for the April 11, 2026 cleanup, and organizers encourage early sign-ups to help with planning and route assignments. Volunteers can register online at this website.

As Tomball continues to grow, organizers say events like Tidy Up Tomball play an important role in preserving the city’s character while strengthening community connections—one cleanup route, and one piece of trash, at a time.
