Magnolia High and Magnolia West Earn National Recognition on AP School Honor Roll

February 05 2026

Magnolia ISD is celebrating a meaningful academic milestone as Magnolia High School and Magnolia West High School have once again been named to the College Board’s Advanced Placement® (AP®) School Honor Roll, a national recognition that highlights schools committed to student achievement and college readiness. For the current year, Magnolia High School earned Silver-level recognition, while Magnolia West High School was recognized at the Bronze level.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools annually based on clear indicators of a strong college-going culture. These include expanding access to Advanced Placement coursework, supporting students in earning college credit while still in high school, and preparing graduates for the academic demands of higher education. Schools are recognized across four distinction levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—reflecting varying degrees of impact and participation.

For Magnolia ISD families, the recognition underscores a broader commitment to academic opportunity and rigor. AP programs are designed not only to challenge students academically, but also to ensure that more students—across backgrounds and interests—can access college-level learning experiences. The Honor Roll specifically highlights schools that balance high performance with inclusive participation, a goal that continues to shape instruction and course offerings across the district.

“We are extremely proud of our teachers and students for their continued commitment to the AP Program as they prepare our students for college,” said Alana Wood, MISD Director of Advanced Academics.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program allows high school students to take college-level courses in 38 subject areas, each culminating in a standardized AP exam. Successful exam scores can lead to college credit, advanced placement, or both, depending on the policies of individual colleges and universities. Beyond credit opportunities, AP coursework emphasizes critical thinking, analytical writing, and problem-solving—skills that support long-term academic and career success.

As Magnolia ISD continues to invest in advanced academics, the recognition of Magnolia High and Magnolia West reflects both sustained effort and a shared community focus on preparing students for what comes next. For students and families alike, the AP School Honor Roll serves as a reassuring sign that local schools are helping open doors to college and beyond.
