Kingsland Baptist Church to Break Ground on $12.96M Worship Expansion in Katy

August 08 2025

Kingsland Baptist Church is set to embark on one of the most significant building projects in its nearly five-decade history—a $12.96 million worship expansion at its Central Campus on Kingsland Boulevard. The privately funded project will bring a 1,700-seat worship room and support spaces for staff to the Kingsland campus, covering 27,800 square feet. According to an official permit filing, construction is scheduled to begin around mid-November 2025, with completion targeted for mid-January 2027.

The expansion comes as Kingsland experiences unprecedented growth. Since its founding in 1977 as a small mission of Tallowood Baptist Church, the congregation has grown from 25 families meeting in a local school to two thriving campuses—Central and North Katy. The church has steadily expanded facilities over the decades to meet the needs of its growing membership, and this latest addition marks a new chapter.

Funding for the project is well underway through the “Go Beyond at Home” campaign, launched earlier this year. As of July 9, the church has raised $6,639,069.39 toward its Phase 1 goal of $7 million. This includes more than $4 million in contributions since Commitment Sunday in February, in addition to over $2.6 million previously set aside for the effort.

“Praise God! Thank you to our Kingsland family for continued faithfulness in giving,” church leaders shared in their update. “The cornerstone of our vision is to see 1,000,007 (1M7) homes transformed by the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe this will be fulfilled by inviting all people to experience true fulfillment in Jesus Christ, one home at a time.”

The decision to move forward with the worship center addition was made by a congregational vote, with a goal of “100% participation” from church members. Leaders view the project not just as a building effort, but as a means to expand outreach both locally and globally.

Over the years, Kingsland has become known for its strong community presence. Its “Caring for Katy” initiative—now nearly two decades old—has mobilized thousands of volunteers and invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into local service projects. In recent years, the church also launched its Empowered Homes initiative, providing podcasts, resources, and leadership networks to help families strengthen their faith and relationships.

Church leaders continue to encourage the community to join the vision and contribute to the campaign, emphasizing that the worship expansion is an investment in the spiritual and relational fabric of Katy. As the fundraising milestone draws near, anticipation is building for groundbreaking day—one that will mark not just the start of construction, but the continuation of Kingsland Baptist Church’s mission to serve, connect, and transform lives.
