Katy YMCA’s 23rd Annual Turkey Dash Returns Thanksgiving Morning with Family Fun for a Great Cause

October 29 2025

One of Katy’s most beloved Thanksgiving Day traditions is back for its 23rd year, as the Katy Area YMCAs get ready to welcome thousands of participants for the Annual Turkey Dash on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Held at the Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch (22807 Westheimer Pkwy, Katy, TX 77494), this cherished community event blends fitness, family fun, and philanthropy — all before the turkey hits the table.

Runners and walkers of all ages can choose from a variety of race options, including a 10K timed run (7:30 AM), 5K timed walk/run (7:50 AM), 1 Mile Family Walk/Run (9:00 AM), and the 1 Mile Kids Race (9:00 AM) exclusively for children ages 3–12. Finishers in every race will receive medals to celebrate their achievement.

Registration is now open at discounted rates through October 31, with prices increasing after that date:

  • 10K: $55 (normally $65)
  • 5K: $45 (normally $55)
  • 1 Mile Family Walk/Run: $20 (normally $30)
  • 1 Mile Kids Race: $20 (normally $30)

Early registration is encouraged, as there will be no race-day signups.

In addition to the races, the Turkey Dash is known for its lively Post-Race Party, complete with a Kids Zone, sponsor booths, giveaways, and a strong sense of community. Local businesses and organizations will be onsite to celebrate with participants and supporters.

More than just a race, the Turkey Dash helps strengthen the Katy community in a meaningful way. All proceeds support the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, which provides financial assistance for families to access YMCA programs, memberships, and vital services throughout the year.

The race makes a real impact in the Katy area. Every step taken on race day helps remove barriers so more families and individuals can benefit from YMCA programs — including swim lessons, childcare, wellness initiatives, and more.

Participants can pick up their race packets at the Monty Ballard YMCA during designated times:

  • Saturday, Nov. 22 from 9 AM–12 PM
  • Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 4–7 PM
  • Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 2–6 PM
  • Race Day (Thursday, Nov. 27) from 6:45–8 AM

Parking is available nearby at The Fellowship and Villagio Town Center, with convenient shuttle service from the Super Target on Westheimer Parkway starting at 6:30 AM.

While strollers are welcome in certain corrals, pets and bikes are not allowed on the course for safety. Runners can also look forward to awards for top finishers and downloadable race photos from raceshot.net.

Want to get involved without running? Volunteers are always welcome, and a silent auction will also help raise funds for the YMCA’s programs.

For more details, including race maps, FAQs, and to register, visit the Katy YMCA Turkey Dash website. Be sure to follow the YMCA on Facebook for updates and reminders as Thanksgiving approaches.

Whether you're a seasoned runner, casual walker, or just here for the fun and festivities, the 2025 Turkey Dash promises a memorable morning that celebrates community, giving back, and gratitude — all with a hearty side of family fun and core memories.
