April 13 2026

As graduation season approaches and summer plans take shape, Fort Bend County families are being presented with more than just milestones—they’re being offered meaningful pathways to the future.

From scholarship funding to career exploration and hands-on training, a series of new and ongoing opportunities through Expose Excellence Youth Program serving youth across Fort Bend County are giving students practical ways to take their next step, whether that’s college, career exploration, or leadership development.

For many households in communities like Fulshear, Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg, and Missouri City, these programs represent something bigger: access, guidance, and a clearer direction forward for the next generation.

Scholarships Open for Fort Bend County Seniors

High school seniors across Fort Bend County now have the opportunity to ease the financial burden of higher education through the 2026 Chakilla and Judge Lewis White Scholarship.

Twelve graduating seniors will each receive $2,000 scholarships, providing direct support for students planning to attend either a two-year or four-year college.

The application deadline is May 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m., giving students a limited window to apply and secure funding that can help offset tuition, books, or other college-related expenses.

As college costs continue to rise nationwide, local scholarship programs like this one remain a critical resource for Fort Bend County families looking to invest in their children’s future without taking on additional financial strain.

Youth Law Enforcement Academy Offers Real-World Experience

For students interested in careers in public safety, the EEYP Youth Law Enforcement Academy is now accepting applications, offering a rare, hands-on look into the field of law enforcement.

The program is designed to go beyond classroom learning—giving students direct interaction with professionals, exposure to real-world scenarios, and opportunities to build foundational skills relevant to careers in policing and criminal justice.

Applications close on May 10, and with limited spots available, early applications are strongly encouraged.

Programs like this not only introduce career pathways early but also help build trust and understanding between youth and public safety professionals—something many communities are increasingly prioritizing.

Summer Internships Aim to Build Career Pathways

Looking ahead to summer, Fort Bend County is also expanding opportunities through its EEYP Career Connection initiative, designed to link students with local internships and job experiences.

Through partnerships with area businesses and organizations, the initiative connects motivated students with real-world work environments—helping them gain experience, build resumes, and develop professional skills before they even graduate.

Local employers are encouraged to participate, creating a collaborative effort between the community and its youth to build a stronger future workforce. Email eeyp.partners@fbctx.gov or submit job opportunities for local youth here.

For students, these internships can serve as a first step toward long-term career clarity—something that traditional classroom settings don’t always provide.

Inside the Expose Excellence Youth Program (EEYP)

At the center of these opportunities is the Expose Excellence Youth Program (EEYP), a Fort Bend County initiative focused on youth development, leadership, and long-term success.

Serving students ages 10 to 17 across Fort Bend County, EEYP works in partnership with schools, churches, and community organizations to provide enrichment programs that go beyond academics.

The program is built around a simple but impactful mission: creating a safe environment for youth while promoting life skills, leadership development, and positive self-expression.

Through in-school and after-school programming, EEYP helps students:

  • Build leadership and communication skills
  • Gain exposure to career pathways
  • Strengthen academic confidence
  • Develop social and emotional awareness
  • Connect with mentors and community leaders

Programs are intentionally designed to meet students where they are, recognizing that not every child benefits from a one-size-fits-all approach.

From leadership training for high school students to anti-bullying and transition support for middle schoolers, EEYP’s structure reflects a broader investment in the long-term success of Fort Bend County youth.
