Houston Repertoire Ballet (HRB), Houston’s premier pre-professional ballet company, celebrates its 28th season, beginning with its 25th annual performance series of The Nutcracker, featuring exquisite professional guest artists Nikisha Fogo as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Aaron Robison as the Cavalier both of the San Francisco Ballet, along with Quinton Brooks as the Snow King, and Joseph Modlin as Herr Drosselmeyer, with the NEW HRB Company Orchestra directed by Tarana Taylor.

Introducing musical accompaniment of HRB’s new Company Orchestra to perfectly complement The Nutcracker’s brilliant blend of beautiful costumes, lavish sets, and fresh choreography. With a cast of more than 100 HRB dancers and area children, and musical performance by its very own orchestra, is sure to be a sellout!

Performances are Friday, December 1 at 7 pm; Saturday, December 2 at 2 pm and 7 pm; and Sunday, December 3 at 1 pm and 4:30 pm at the Tomball High School Theatre, 30330 Quinn Road, Tomball, Texas 77375. Cost is $20 for students & seniors 65 and older; $28 for adults 19 years and older; minimum age recommended is two, no lap seating per Fire Marshall.

The Land of Sweets Soirée event is the collaboration of several alumnae with a vision to bring the joy and delight of ballet to the children of our community! The experience includes sweet treats, narration excerpt from The Nutcracker, an abridged Nutcracker performance from company members, interactive movement with ballerinas, gorgeous decor, and Land of Sweets ornament. From bakers to a vision of a sugar plum, our guests will have opportunities to take photos with Clara and her friends in several imaginative settings exclusive to the soirée including a snow globe bubble house! Limited tickets are: $30/Adults and $40/Children, child tickets include a Land of Sweets wand and crown. Tables seat 12; reserved tables have priority viewing of the soirée Nutcracker performance. All other seating is first come, first serve at the event. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Toddlers ages one to two much have a ticket for own seat, plate, crown, and wand. Reservations are not refundable or exchangeable but can be transferred.

HRB’s Outreach program, dubbed “The Nutcracker Experience,” is back, and will include three Arts & Education shows, provided completely free to all Tomball ISD third graders, fulfilling the arts component of their curriculum. This program also provides third grade participants from Canyon Point, Decker Prairie, Grand Oaks, Rosehill, Tomball, and Willow Creek elementary schools with free shoes, attire, costumes, and lessons/rehearsals. The participants will also have the opportunity to perform alongside company dancers in two school performances, for an audience of their peers comprising more than 1,500 Tomball ISD third graders. HRB dancers are committed to sharing the arts with the community. Community engagement events include costumed appearances at various nursing homes, group events, and at Arts & Education performances.
