Harvest Bend Invites Residents to Host Block Parties for National Night Out on October 7

August 20 2025

On Tuesday, October 7, Harvest Bend residents are invited to join neighborhoods across the country in celebrating National Night Out, an annual event dedicated to strengthening the bond between law enforcement and local communities.

First introduced in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out was created to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood unity. What began as a simple porchlight campaign has since grown into a nationally celebrated evening filled with block parties, cookouts, parades, and community festivals—bringing together families, neighbors, and first responders in a show of solidarity and shared commitment to safer streets.

This year, the Harvest Bend HOA is encouraging residents to take part by hosting neighborhood block parties. Whether it's a gathering on your driveway, a grill-out on your cul-de-sac, or a meet-and-greet in your front yard, every block party contributes to the greater mission of National Night Out: to foster safety, awareness, and connection among neighbors.

To support your efforts, the HOA is offering a $50 reimbursement to residents who host a block party—intended to help cover the cost of hamburgers and hot dogs. All you need is a receipt. Neighbors are welcome to bring side dishes, potluck-style.

National Night Out has always been more than just a celebration—it’s a meaningful reminder that community safety starts with strong relationships, open communication, and a little bit of fun. From kids playing in the street to neighbors chatting over grilled burgers, each small connection made on October 7 contributes to a stronger Harvest Bend.
