Fireflies & Foodtrucks Finds a New Home at Katy Beer Garden for Annual Katy ISD Education Foundation Fundraiser
A community-favorite tradition is making its return this fall — with a fresh twist. The Katy ISD Education Foundation has announced that its annual Fireflies & Foodtrucks event will take place on Thursday, November 13, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at a brand-new venue: the Katy Beer Garden.
Known for its electrifying atmosphere and cause-driven mission, Fireflies & Foodtrucks brings together Katy-area residents for an evening of live music, delicious bites from top Houston-area food trucks, and a handpicked beverage selection— all in support of Katy ISD teachers. This year marks a special chapter in the event’s history as it moves to Katy Beer Garden, a beloved newcomer to Katy’s social scene that’s quickly become a community landmark.
Located at 5345 East 3rd Street, Katy Beer Garden opened its doors in June 2024 as part of The Dryer—an ambitious project dedicated to honoring Katy’s agricultural legacy. The venue sits beneath the towering oak trees surrounding the historic JV Cardiff Rice Dryer, once the tallest rice dryer in the country. Spanning 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor gathering space, the beer garden offers a relaxed, scenic setting perfect for this year’s community celebration.

The venue change offers a unique backdrop for a cause that hits close to home. Proceeds from Fireflies & Foodtrucks help fund the Foundation’s Inspiring Imagination teacher grant program, which supports creative and impactful learning experiences in classrooms across Katy ISD. Just this year, the Foundation proudly awarded $514,000 in grants to educators, thanks in large part to community-driven events like this one.
“The energy of Fireflies & Foodtrucks combined with the charm and historical significance of Katy Beer Garden is a perfect match,” said representatives from the Katy ISD Education Foundation. “We’re thrilled to bring people together in this beautiful space to support the educators who make a difference in our students’ lives every day.”
Founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Katy ISD Education Foundation unites generous individuals and organizations around one mission: to elevate the educational experience in Katy ISD schools. With the district continuing to grow, the Foundation’s role in supporting forward-thinking classroom initiatives is more vital than ever.

Surrounded by Katy’s history and rooted in its strong sense of community, the evening promises to be a heartfelt celebration of the people who make a difference in the classroom and beyond.
