Dr. Lupita Hinojosa Named LULAC's Distinguished Superintendent of the Year for Leadership and Advocacy in Education
For Dr. Lupita Hinojosa, education has always been more than a profession—it’s been a lifelong mission to uplift students and break down barriers to success. That commitment was recognized when the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Education Council 402 honored her as the Distinguished Superintendent of the Year, a prestigious award celebrating her leadership and advocacy in education.
As the first Latina Superintendent of Spring ISD, Hinojosa’s journey resonates deeply with the community she serves. Raised in a family that valued education as a path to opportunity, she has spent over 30 years fighting for students from all backgrounds to have access to quality learning experiences.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award from LULAC, an organization whose legacy has uplifted countless students and families across the nation,” Hinojosa said. “As educators, we build bridges to a brighter future for our students, and this award is a testament to the power of collaboration and community support. Together, sí se puede—yes, we can!”

“Dr. Hinojosa stood out for her exceptional leadership, her ability to inspire others, and her historic role as the first Latina Superintendent of Spring ISD,” said Cj Ortiz Alves, 2nd Vice President of LULAC Education Council 402. “Her passion for education advocacy aligns with our core values and mission to provide high-quality education for all students.”
Hinojosa’s leadership has been particularly impactful for students of color, bilingual learners, and those in underserved communities, groups that LULAC has long supported through scholarships, mentorship, and advocacy programs.
