Dig World in Katy to Be Featured on ABC’s Shark Tank

March 03 2025

Dig World, the nation’s first construction-themed amusement park, is set to be featured on ABC’s hit show Shark Tank on March 14 at 7 p.m. CT. The Katy-based attraction, which allows guests to operate real construction equipment in a safe and controlled environment, will be pitching its business to the panel of renowned investors, known as the Sharks.

According to Dig World founder Jacob Robinson, the opportunity to showcase the company on Shark Tank was a huge step for the business.

“We’ve kept this under wraps for a long time, but now we’re beyond excited to finally share this journey with everyone,” Robinson said. “Pitching Dig World on Shark Tank was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we can’t wait for viewers to see how it all unfolded.

What is Shark Tank and How It Could Impact Dig World

Shark Tank, which premiered on ABC in 2009, gives entrepreneurs the chance to present their businesses to a panel of wealthy investors, including Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary, Daymond John, and Barbara Corcoran. Contestants pitch their companies in hopes of securing financial backing, strategic partnerships, and invaluable mentorship from the Sharks. The show has launched numerous successful businesses, including Scrub Daddy, Bombas, and The Comfy Original, enabling them to scale nationally and increase brand recognition.

If Dig World secures a deal, it could help accelerate franchise expansion, new attractions, and national growth. While the Shark Tank episode has yet to air, Dig World's website details franchising opportunities, suggesting that the company is actively seeking entrepreneurs to open new locations. With an average of 75,000 annual visitors and over 100 million viral video views, Dig World has demonstrated strong market appeal.

In addition, Dig World appears to have partnered with Dude Perfect, a globally recognized family-friendly entertainment brand with over 110 million fans. Franchise owners will have the opportunity to feature Dude Perfect-branded attractions, enhancing their park’s appeal and tapping into a massive audience.

“We’re excited to partner with a new group of driven entrepreneurs to build something special across the country,” Robinson said. “This is an incredible opportunity for those looking to take a big step in personal and financial development—while having a blast doing it.”

The Story Behind Dig World

Dig World was founded by Jacob Robinson and his team, but the heart of the company’s story is rooted in a personal inspiration—Jacob and his wife’s son, Pierce.

Pierce was born in May 2015 as a joyful and healthy child with a deep love for construction equipment, garbage trucks, dump trucks, and all things outdoors. However, on February 4, 2017, he contracted bacterial meningitis, which resulted in a significant brain injury. After spending two weeks in a coma and 75 days in the hospital, his life—and that of his family—changed forever. Despite the physical and cognitive challenges caused by the illness, Pierce’s joyful spirit and infectious giggles continue to touch those around him.

Inspired by Pierce’s passion for construction, Jacob and his family wanted to create a unique experience that all children and adults could enjoy, regardless of ability. Teaming up with college friend Rick Bennett, the concept for Dig World was born. Their mission is to bring families and friends together for an unforgettable experience, creating lifelong memories.

Today, Pierce remains a central part of the Dig World community. When visiting the park, guests may find him greeting visitors at the admissions booth, adding a special personal touch to the Dig World experience.

Dig World first opened in Katy, Texas, in 2022, offering guests the opportunity to operate real excavators, skid steers, and other heavy machinery in a safe, supervised environment. The park offers modified equipment to accommodate various ages and skill levels, ensuring an engaging and secure experience for all visitors. In addition to its attractions, Dig World hosts field trips, corporate events, and birthday parties, making it a versatile and exciting destination.

“From the moment we opened Dig World, we knew we had something special,” Robinson said. “Seeing the joy on kids’ faces when they operate real machinery is what makes this all worth it. We hope Shark Tank helps us take Dig World to even greater heights.”

What’s Next for Dig World?

With its upcoming national television debut, Dig World is poised for new growth opportunities. Whether or not the Sharks struck a deal, the exposure from Shark Tank could lead to additional franchise locations, expanded attractions, and a broader fan base beyond Texas.

Fans and supporters can tune in on March 14 at 7 p.m. CT on ABC to watch Dig World’s Shark Tank journey unfold. For those who miss the live airing, episodes will be available on Hulu and ABC’s streaming platforms.
