The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to spread festive cheer than by supporting the talented students at Katy ISD's Miller Career and Technology Center (MCTC)? The annual Old Town Bistro Christmas Bake Sale is just around the corner, taking place on December 18th and 19th. It's the perfect opportunity to pick up delicious homemade holiday treats while helping Katy ISD students gain hands-on culinary experience.
This year’s bake sale will offer a variety of mouth-watering items, all made with care by the students in the Culinary Arts program. Available for purchase will be everything from one dozen standard cookies for $12 to more indulgent options like a cranberry orange custard pie for $20. Other tasty treats include pumpkin bread, decorated cookies, cookie truffles, pumpkin cream cheese rolls, cakes, and dinner rolls. Whether you're after a sweet snack or need something to serve at a holiday gathering, there will be plenty of options to satisfy your cravings. Best of all, there will be a free wrapping station available to help you prepare your purchases as perfect gifts for friends and family!
The event will be held at Old Town Bistro, located at the MCTC, located at 1734 Katyland Drive in Katy. The sale kicks off on December 18th from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and continues on December 19th from 7:30 a.m. until the treats are all sold out. It’s a great chance to pick up homemade baked goods while supporting the students who created them.
The Culinary Arts program at MCTC equips students with real-world experience in food production, restaurant management, and kitchen operations. Throughout their training, students learn essential skills like knife handling, baking, grilling, sautéing, and plate presentation, all while being taught in a commercial-grade kitchen setting. Second-year students have the unique opportunity to practice these skills in the real-world setting of the Old Town Bistro, where they rotate through various roles—cooking, serving, hosting, and supervising—gaining invaluable experience in every aspect of restaurant management.
