Katy ISD Approves 2025-26 Compensation Plan with Across-the-Board Pay Increases
The Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the 2025-2026 compensation plan, signaling a strong commitment to staff retention and competitive salaries across the district. The newly adopted pay structure features targeted raises for teachers and employees at every stage of their careers, backed by state funding from House Bill 2 (HB2) and supplemental local investments.
Under the new plan, classroom teachers at all experience levels will receive compensation increases, with the largest boosts designated for educators with five or more years in the classroom. The district also earmarked funds to ensure that early-career teachers — not fully covered by HB2’s structure — receive a competitive stipend.
Key Highlights from the 2025-26 Katy ISD Compensation Plan
-
1st–2nd year teachers: $2,500 stipend funded through Katy ISD’s general operating budget
-
3rd–4th year teachers: $2,500 salary increase via the Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) under HB2
-
5th year and beyond teachers: $5,000 increase through HB2 TRA, representing a 6–7.5% pay raise based on midpoint salaries
-
Non-administrative staff: 3% raise, with 1.3% from HB2 and 1.7% from local funding
-
Administrators: 3% raise funded entirely by Katy ISD
Board President Lance Redmon emphasized the district’s holistic approach to supporting staff. “This plan is about valuing every member of our staff, and especially our much sought after teachers, whether they're just beginning their careers or have dedicated decades to public education,” said Redmon. “Our Board believes that recruiting and retaining high-quality educators and staff is essential to student success. We’re proud to invest in our people in a way that reflects that belief.”

Bridging the Gap for Early-Career Teachers
Though HB2 was crafted to elevate pay for experienced teachers, its design left early-career educators — often facing the steepest challenges — without proportional increases. Katy ISD’s decision to supplement these educators’ pay with a $2,500 stipend reflects a local commitment to equity and long-term investment in talent development.
A Continuing Commitment to Educational Excellence
The compensation plan builds upon a legacy of teacher and staff support in Katy ISD, reinforcing the district’s position as one of the most attractive places to work in Texas public education. By balancing state funding mechanisms with local resources, Katy ISD aims to maintain its standard of world-class education while keeping experienced educators in the classroom and welcoming new talent with competitive pay.
