Fogo de Chão Opens New Location in Cypress
Fogo de Chão, the internationally renowned Brazilian steakhouse, has officially opened its new location in Cypress, Texas. The restaurant, located at 19820 Northwest Freeway in the Crossroads neighborhood, occupies the space previously home to Johnny Carino’s. This marks the brand’s fourth location in the Greater Houston area, expanding its presence in Texas with plans for additional growth, including a Katy location set to open in 2025.
The new Fogo de Chão offers a modern dining experience centered around the brand’s signature churrasco—Brazilian-style barbecue. Guests can enjoy a 360-degree view of the gaucho chefs as they butcher, hand-carve, and grill a selection of high-quality meats over an open flame. The expansive dining room, designed by the global agency Harrison, features a prominent open grill area that enhances the immersive experience of the culinary process.

“We’re excited to open our doors in Cypress and bring the authentic flavors of Southern Brazil to this vibrant community,” said Barry McGowan, CEO of Fogo de Chão. “After nearly 25 years in the Houston area, we’re thrilled to add two new locations, in Cypress and Katy, and continue sharing the art of churrasco with more guests.”
The restaurant spans 7,345 square feet and is designed to accommodate a variety of dining experiences. One of the highlights is the Market Table, a buffet-style offering that features seasonal salads, cured meats, superfoods, and antipasti. The full churrasco experience, available on a prix fixe basis, includes continuous servings of premium cuts of meat such as Picanha, Filet Mignon, and Lamb, carved tableside by gaucho chefs.
In addition to the main dining area, the restaurant includes Bar Fogo, a social gathering space where guests can enjoy all-day happy hour and a selection of South American wines. For those seeking indulgent cuts, the new location also features dry-aged meat lockers that display exclusive offerings like the 32 oz. Long-Bone Tomahawk Ribeye, aged for a minimum of 42 days.
The new Fogo de Chão location in Cypress aims to honor its authentic Southern Brazilian roots. With engaging spaces designed for both casual gatherings and celebratory occasions, the restaurant aims to become a central dining destination in the area.
