Cy-Fair ISD Opens Preregistration for Pre-K and Kindergarten on March 31: What Families Need to Know
Parents and guardians in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) attendance zone can officially begin preregistration for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten starting March 31, 2025. As one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, CFISD encourages early registration to help families secure a spot and make the back-to-school transition as seamless as possible.
Whether enrolling a child in free public Pre-K, CFISD’s new tuition-based Pre-K program, or traditional kindergarten classes, preregistration is an essential first step toward starting the 2025–2026 school year with confidence.

Expanded Early Education Options for 2025–2026
In a major step forward for early childhood education, CFISD will launch a tuition-based Pre-K program in the 2025–26 school year. This initiative aims to serve families who don’t meet the eligibility criteria for the state-funded, free Pre-K program but still wish to give their child a strong educational foundation.
Backed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the new tuition-based option will be available for children who are 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025. Tuition is $650 per month for both residents and non-residents, with a discounted rate of $600 for CFISD employees. A one-time $50 registration fee also applies.
This program will be offered at all elementary campuses, space permitting. If a family’s zoned school is at capacity, they will be offered the opportunity to register at another nearby school with availability.
What to Expect in CFISD’s Pre-K Curriculum
CFISD’s early childhood programs, including both the free and tuition-based Pre-K options, follow the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines, emphasizing development in ten core areas. These include:
-
Social and emotional development
-
Language and communication
-
Emergent literacy and reading
-
Math and science readiness
-
Fine arts and physical development
-
Technology skills and classroom routines
Each classroom will be staffed with a certified teacher and a paraprofessional, ensuring a low student-to-adult ratio and focused support.
Transportation, Attendance, and Parent Agreements
Transportation for Pre-K students will only be provided if they attend their zoned campus and meet CFISD’s transportation guidelines. Students enrolled at a different campus through transfer or capacity placement are not eligible for transportation services.
Parents registering for the tuition-based Pre-K must sign a parent agreement that outlines expectations for attendance, tuition payments, late pickups, and other essential policies.
Open Transfer Opportunities Also Begin April 1
In addition to early registration, CFISD families will also have the opportunity to apply for student transfers starting April 1, 2025. This includes transferring to campuses with specialized academic programs or unique extracurricular offerings.
Families seeking both Pre-K enrollment and a transfer to a different CFISD campus are encouraged to act early and review the district’s campus capacity tiers. Not all schools may be open to new transfers based on projected enrollment.
