USPS Proposes Relocation of Tomball Post Office Retail Operations: Public Comment Open Through March 14

January 29 2026

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced a proposal to relocate the retail operations currently housed at the Tomball Post Office at 122 N. Holderrieth Blvd. The potential move would place postal retail services within a 3-mile radius of the existing location, with community feedback now being actively sought during a public comment period open through March 14, 2026.

According to USPS, the relocation is being considered because the existing facility is larger than operationally necessary and has become inefficient for current service needs. Importantly, the agency confirmed that all retail services will continue uninterrupted at the current location until a new site is opened.

In an official notification mailed to Tomball-area customers, USPS outlined its intent and invited the public to provide written feedback. Comments can be submitted by mail to the following address:

Attn: Tomball Post Office Relocation
United States Postal Service
P.O. Box 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

All feedback must be postmarked and received by March 14, 2026, to be considered in the final decision process.

After the comment window closes, USPS will evaluate all submissions before proceeding with, modifying, or potentially canceling the proposed relocation. This participatory process ensures that local voices are heard in decisions impacting Tomball’s postal access and convenience.

This development comes as the U.S. Postal Service marks its 250th anniversary, a milestone in its ongoing mission to provide affordable, reliable, and secure delivery service to more than 170 million addresses nationwide. Operating without taxpayer funding, USPS sustains itself through the sale of postage, products, and services.

The potential relocation is part of the organization’s broader network modernization plan, aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer service while ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

What This Means for Tomball Residents

For residents in Tomball, easy access to retail postal services remains an essential part of daily life, whether it’s for mailing packages, purchasing stamps, or handling business and personal correspondence.

While the relocation would keep services within a short distance of the current location, USPS emphasizes the importance of public participation in shaping how and where those services are delivered. This is a key moment for Tomball residents to weigh in on the future of their local post office.
