Under Armour, Birkenstock and Timberland Expanding at Houston Premium Outlets in Cypress
Shoppers in Cypress and Northwest Houston will soon notice renewed energy at Houston Premium Outlets as three nationally recognized brands — Under Armour, Birkenstock and Timberland — move forward with renovation and tenant improvement projects at the popular outdoor shopping center along U.S. 290.
For families who frequent Houston Premium Outlets, for residents tracking commercial growth in Cypress, and for homeowners watching continued investment along the Hempstead Road corridor, these upgrades represent more than store remodels. They reflect sustained retail confidence in one of Northwest Houston’s busiest shopping destinations.
Located at 29300 Hempstead Road in Cypress, Houston Premium Outlets has long served as a regional draw for shoppers across Harris County and beyond. The Simon Property Group-owned outlet center features more than 145 designer and name-brand stores, offering discounted retail options in an open-air format that continues to attract visitors from Katy, Tomball, The Woodlands and West Houston.
Now, three established brands are investing in updated and refreshed spaces within the center.
Under Armour Renovating 12,155-Square-Foot Storefront

Founded in 1996, Under Armour has grown into one of the most recognized athletic performance brands in the world, known for moisture-wicking apparel, training gear, footwear and sports accessories. The brand has maintained a strong presence in the Houston area, serving student athletes, fitness enthusiasts and families seeking performance wear for school sports and everyday activity.
For Cypress-area residents, the renovation suggests a refreshed shopping experience and continued demand for athletic and lifestyle retail within Houston Premium Outlets.
Birkenstock Bringing Updated Retail Space to Suite 810
Birkenstock is also moving forward with a tenant fit-out in Suite 810, a 2,884-square-foot space. Construction began April 1, 2026, with completion expected by June 5, 2026. The estimated cost of the project is $650,000.
The German footwear company, founded in 1774, is known worldwide for its contoured cork footbed sandals and comfort-focused designs. In recent years, Birkenstock has experienced renewed popularity across multiple generations, blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary style.
As comfort-driven fashion continues trending nationwide, the addition and upgrade of Birkenstock at Houston Premium Outlets aligns with broader retail demand for practical yet fashionable footwear. For local shoppers, it means expanded access to a brand that has become both a staple and a statement.
Timberland Updating 4,000-Square-Foot Location
Timberland, located in Space #631, is undergoing renovations totaling approximately 4,000 square feet. Construction began March 2, 2026, and is expected to conclude April 21, 2026, with an estimated project cost of $350,000.
Planned improvements include new non-load bearing partitions, updated fixtures and finishes, lighting, plumbing and mechanical updates.
Best known for its iconic waterproof boots introduced in the 1970s, Timberland has expanded into outdoor apparel, workwear and casual fashion. The brand’s continued investment in Houston Premium Outlets reinforces the center’s role as a destination for outdoor, lifestyle and performance retailers.

What This Means for Cypress Retail Growth
Retail renovation activity often signals more than cosmetic change. In growing suburban markets like Cypress, reinvestment in established shopping centers can indicate stable consumer traffic and sustained commercial interest.
Houston Premium Outlets sits near the intersection of U.S. 290 and the Grand Parkway corridor, an area that has experienced steady residential growth over the past decade. As new neighborhoods continue to develop in Cypress and surrounding communities, retail centers that serve those residents remain key anchors for local commerce.
For homeowners, commercial reinvestment can contribute to area vibrancy and convenience. For families, it means refreshed shopping options close to home. And for small businesses operating nearby, consistent outlet traffic supports broader economic activity.
A Continued Draw for Northwest Houston Shoppers
Houston Premium Outlets remains one of the most visited outlet malls in the Greater Houston area. Its open-air design, national brand mix and proximity to major roadways make it a regional shopping hub.
With Under Armour, Birkenstock and Timberland all investing in updated spaces in 2026, the outlet center appears positioned to maintain its appeal as Cypress continues to grow.
Residents can expect construction activity within the specified suites through early summer, with updated store interiors rolling out in phases as projects are completed.
