Tomball’s Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue Earns Spot on 2025 MICHELIN Guide Texas Bib Gourmand List

October 29 2025

In the heart of Old Town Tomball, Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue — located at 200 N. Elm Street, Tomball, TX 77375 — continues to make history, earning a place on the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Texas Bib Gourmand list.

The Bib Gourmand category, awarded to just eight new Texas restaurants this year, honors eateries that deliver outstanding cuisine at a great value — a hallmark of the MICHELIN Guide’s focus on accessibility and quality. The recognition was announced during the MICHELIN Guide Texas 2025 Ceremony at Houston’s Wortham Theater Center, where 140 restaurants statewide were celebrated across multiple categories, including 18 One MICHELIN Star and four Green Star establishments.

Governor Greg Abbott praised the honorees for strengthening Texas’s “world-class foodservice industry,” and Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell noted that the Guide “continues to make history, recognizing barbecue as a cuisine worth traveling for.”

Co-founded by Scott Moore Jr., Greg Moore, and Michelle Holland, Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue began in 2015 as a bean-to-bar chocolate craftory before evolving into one of Texas’s most respected barbecue destinations. The restaurant’s location in one of Tomball’s oldest downtown buildings adds rustic charm to its reputation for craftsmanship and warmth.

Signature dishes include USDA Prime brisket smoked over post-oak, house-made sausage, and the popular “Brisket & Blues” sandwich layered with blue-cheese spread and tomato on a potato bun — all complemented by handcrafted chocolate truffles made from single-origin cacao.

MICHELIN Inspectors highlighted Tejas for its “expertly smoked meats and thoughtfully prepared sweets that bring comfort and finesse to classic Texas barbecue.” The combination of small-batch chocolate and slow-smoked barbecue continues to set Tejas apart in both creativity and community connection.

This year’s honor adds to an impressive list of previous accolades. Since 2017, Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue has appeared multiple times on Texas Monthly’s “Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas,” climbing to #6 in the 2021 edition. It has also been featured by Bon Appétit, Southern Living, and Eater Houston for redefining the Texas barbecue experience, while co-owner Scott Moore Jr. has represented Tomball’s culinary scene at the Houston Barbecue Festival and even cooked at the James Beard House in New York City.

Houston-area peers including Belly of the Beast in Spring, March, Bludorn, and Golfstrommen were also honored in this year’s MICHELIN Guide, while Isidore and Nicosi (San Antonio) and Mamani (Dallas) earned new One-Star distinctions.

For Tomball residents, Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue’s Bib Gourmand recognition is a moment of pride — a celebration of passion, precision, and small-town hospitality that continues to draw visitors from across Texas and beyond.
