Summer Beach Pawty Adoption Event Brings Fun, Food, and Furry Friends to Fort Bend County

June 11 2025

With summer in full swing and tails wagging in anticipation, Fort Bend County Animal Services is inviting the community to its highly anticipated Summer Beach Pawty Adoption Event on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Held from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Building B, (4310 TX-36 S, Rosenberg, TX 77471), this event promises more than adorable dogs and cats—it’s a festive celebration with a cause.

Pet Adoptions Meet Summer Fun

From Chicago-style hot dogs and a local taco truck to refreshing popsicles, visitors can indulge while exploring a lively vendor market featuring pet food and toys, customized goods, and more. It’s a “pawsitively pawsome” opportunity to support the shelter, mingle with local animal lovers, and maybe—just maybe—fall in love with a four-legged friend.

"There's truly something for everyone," said a shelter representative. “Whether you’re coming to adopt or just enjoy the festivities, we welcome all to experience the joy of pet companionship.”

The Summer Beach Pawty builds on a successful track record: In April 2025 alone, 165 dogs and cats left Fort Bend County Animal Services (FBCAS) alive through adoption, return to owner, or transfer to rescue groups, helping the shelter maintain a remarkable 92% save rate.

Updates for TNR and Community Cat Program Participants

In conjunction with the event, FBCAS is issuing an important reminder to participants in its Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Community Cat Program: effective immediately, only humane traps will be accepted for cats brought in for spay/neuter services. Pet taxis, soft-sided bags, and vari-kennels are no longer allowed.

“These alternatives are not secure or humane for the cats, especially during post-surgery recovery,” the shelter clarified. “We want to ensure the best possible care and safety for every cat.”

FBCAS offers trap rentals for up to seven days with a refundable $100 check deposit. For those interested in purchasing their own, the shelter recommends the CountyLine 1-Door Catch-and-Release Live Animal Trap from Tractor Supply Co. or Needville Feed & Supply.

A Community-Focused Mission

Fort Bend County Animal Services operates with a mission to prevent the spread of rabies, promote responsible pet ownership, and ensure compassionate treatment of animals. Their core values include public education, pet licensing, enforcement of leash laws, and placement of animals in loving homes.

Notably, the shelter can only hold unidentified, unclaimed pets for three business days, urging owners to act quickly if their pet goes missing. Licensing is required annually for all cats and dogs in Fort Bend County.

The shelter encourages volunteers and 501(c) rescue partners to join their efforts, helping extend care and compassion to every animal in need.

Why It Matters

The need for adoptive families and community support remains urgent. In April, FBCAS reported 80 community cats returned to the field, 13 dogs reunited with owners, and multiple humane euthanasias due to severe illness or aggression—an unfortunate but necessary reality in animal care.

Adopting a pet from a shelter not only gives animals a second chance but also helps address the broader issue of pet overpopulation. According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.3 million companion animals enter U.S. shelters each year—and choosing adoption helps reduce the demand for unethical breeding practices while opening up shelter space for other animals in need. It's a meaningful way to save a life and enrich your own with a loyal, loving companion.

Despite these challenges, the shelter continues to exceed national lifesaving benchmarks thanks to its partnerships and public involvement. “Our dedicated staff would like to thank all our adopters, rescue partners, fosters, volunteers, and community members who played a part in every life saved at FBCAS this month,” the report notes.
