Be a Part of the H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade in Downtown Houston
Want to be a part of the H-E-B Thanksgiving day parade? Parade organizers are looking for volunteers to dress in rock ‘n’ roll, Elvis and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costumes and be a part of the parade.
The 74th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at 9 a.m. Located in the heart of downtown Houston, this event is one of the oldest Thanksgiving Day parades in the country. Each year, several hundred thousand Houstonians line the streets to cheer on participants. The parade will traverse over 20 city blocks and will feature elaborate floats, colorful marching bands, high-flying balloons and other uniquely Houston entries.
All participants must be able to provide and dress in rock ‘n’ roll, or Elvis costume. Volunteers will need to arrive at 7:30 AM for the parade lineup on November 23 and be able to walk 21 city blocks. Interested parties are encouraged to send their contact information along with costume photos via email to Leigh-Anne.McQuitty@houstontx.gov. There are only 40 open spots available, and the deadline for entries is November 10.
In addition to costumed volunteers, there are may other ways to help make this beloved event another success. Volunteer positions needed include balloon handlers, banner carrier, parade marshals, seating ushers, ADA ushers and back lot attendants.
