Katy ISD Honors 2024–25 Athletes of the Year for Excellence in Sports and Leadership

July 22 2025

Katy Independent School District has announced its 2024–25 Athletes of the Year, honoring three remarkable student-athletes whose hard work, leadership, and athletic prowess left an undeniable mark on the district’s sports legacy. This year’s recipients include Adam Carter of Katy High School, Ananya Sriniketh of Tompkins High School, and Janey Campbell of Seven Lakes High School.

These student-athletes were selected not only for their dominance in competition but also for their commitment to academics and the example they set for peers across the district.

“Congratulations to our three Katy ISD Athletes of the Year! Their talent, leadership and dedication have set the standard for excellence in athletics and academics,” said Lance Carter, Executive Director of Athletics for Katy ISD. “We celebrate their incredible accomplishments and the positive impact they’ve made on their teams, campuses and in Katy ISD.”

Katy ISD Male Athlete of the Year: Adam Carter, Katy High School

A two-sport standout, Adam Carter leaves behind a legacy at Katy High School as both a decorated track and field competitor and a football powerhouse. As a three-year starter on the Katy Tigers football team, Carter’s athleticism was key to the program’s continued success. On the field, he broke the school record for the longest punt at 78 yards and was named District 19-6A MVP as a senior, also earning All-Greater Houston honors.

Carter’s achievements in track and field were even more historic. He competed at the UIL State Meet two years in a row and medaled three times, including a state title in shot put. Carter shattered multiple records in shot put and discus at the school, district, and regional levels and was honored as the MVP of the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Super Elite Track and Field Team.

He will continue his athletic career at Texas State University.

Katy ISD Female Athlete of the Year: Ananya Sriniketh, Tompkins High School

From the courts of Tompkins High School, Ananya Sriniketh dominated in tennis over her four-year varsity career. The consistent champion claimed four consecutive district titles in singles and rose to the top of the state rankings, finishing as a state finalist her sophomore year before seizing the UIL state singles championship as a senior in a grueling seven-hour match.

Sriniketh’s excellence extended to team play, where she was named to the THSCA Super Elite Team for Team Tennis. Academically, she earned both All-District and All-State Academic honors, representing the ideal student-athlete balance.

She will attend Claremont McKenna College, continuing her tennis career at the collegiate level.

Katy ISD Female Athlete of the Year: Janey Campbell, Seven Lakes High School

A rare dual-sport athlete, Janey Campbell showcased her range with a stellar career in swimming and track and field at Seven Lakes High School. On the track, Campbell was a dominant thrower—three-time district discus champion, Texas Relays Shot Put Champion, and a four-time UIL State Meet qualifier who capped her high school tenure by winning the UIL state title in shot put.

Campbell was named to the THSCA Super Elite Track and Field Team and also earned varsity letters in swimming during her three years on the SLHS Swim Team.

She will compete at the collegiate level for the University of Michigan.
