Katy Christian Ministries Strengthens Leadership with CEO and CFO Appointments to Expand Community Impact
Katy Christian Ministries (KCM), a cornerstone of faith-based nonprofit work in West Houston for more than four decades, has officially appointed Virginia Gonzalez as Chief Executive Officer and Deitric Johnson as Chief Financial Officer, effective June 1. These strategic leadership changes reflect the organization’s deepening commitment to addressing hunger, abuse, and poverty across Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties.
Founded in 1984 by a coalition of local churches, KCM has grown from a modest food pantry into a robust, multi-service nonprofit touching tens of thousands of lives annually. The announcement comes as the organization continues to see rising demand for its critical programs, including food assistance, domestic violence support, and emergency aid for veterans and low-income families.
A Legacy of Service Meets Visionary Leadership
Virginia Gonzalez, who served as KCM’s interim executive director since December 2024, now assumes full leadership of the organization. With more than 17 years in the nonprofit sector and a background in victim advocacy and justice systems, Gonzalez is poised to build on the momentum set by her predecessor, Deysi Crespo.
“I am honored for the opportunity to lead this incredible organization,” Gonzalez said. “In West Houston, our community sees parents with children lining up in their cars at 3:30 am in the dark to receive food from our Food Bank. For the families and victims of abuse we support, we are often their last hope of help. There is no more important mission, and I am grateful for the support of our community to be able to provide them with help.”
Gonzalez’s leadership journey began with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in West Texas and is rooted in servant leadership—focusing on collaboration, transparency, and stakeholder empowerment. During her interim tenure, she launched an operational review to improve KCM’s service delivery, prioritizing long-term impact and sustainability.

Expanding Financial Strategy with Deitric Johnson
Joining Gonzalez in this new chapter is Deitric Johnson, appointed as Chief Financial Officer. Johnson brings a seasoned background in nonprofit financial management, most recently serving as CFO of the Gamaliel Foundation, where he oversaw complex operations and guided strategic growth.
His arrival comes at a time when KCM is managing significant expansion in program scope and financial stewardship. In 2024 alone, the organization provided more than 1.75 million meals through its Food Bank on Porter Road, supported 2,468 victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and delivered direct aid to over 8,000 families and veterans.
Board Support and Community Impact
KCM Board President Don Flowers welcomed the leadership appointments, citing the importance of stability and strategic direction during a period of rapid growth.
“The Board is delighted to confirm these two extremely strong leadership appointments at KCM,” Flowers said. “Working with our community and churches, we are excited to see KCM expand and increase the support it provides to some of the most vulnerable in our community.”
With more than 55 staff members and over 2,000 volunteers, KCM is not only a vital safety net but also a symbol of what collective faith and service can achieve. The organization operates four service locations and partners with over 65 area churches and countless local businesses to support a growing need for emergency services, housing assistance, and social advocacy.

Looking Ahead
As Gonzalez and Johnson settle into their new roles, the focus remains on expanding capacity, deepening partnerships, and building an even stronger infrastructure for community aid. Both leaders expressed strong commitments to ensuring that every client, volunteer, and donor continues to feel connected to the mission.
Katy Christian Ministries continues to serve as a model for compassionate care and organizational excellence. With these new appointments, the nonprofit is well-positioned to carry its mission—transforming lives through God’s grace and community generosity—into its next chapter.
