Description
Join us for Cinco Ranch Library's "Blackout Poetry Workshop for Teens!"
In celebration of National Poetry Month this April, the library's Conference Classroom will be open for 9th - 12th graders to practice their literary art.
Blackout poems can be created using the pages of old books, magazines, or even articles cut from yesterday’s newspaper. By isolating single words or short phrases by blacking out unneeded words, poets can create lyrical masterpieces.
It's up to the blackout poet to bring new meaning and life to these words. Blackout poems can be absurd or sublime based on the words already there, but the randomness is all part of the fun!
- The workshop is free and open to the public.
- The event is only for Young Adults: 9th - 12th graders
For more information, see the Fort Bend County Libraries website.
