Senior Bus Trip to Houston Police Department Mounted Patrol Barn
28515 Old Washington Road
Hockley ,TX 77447
Hi ho silver away! Join us on a bus trip into Houston as we visit the Houston Police Department Mounted Patrol Barn. The Houston Police Department revived the combination of horse and police officer with the reestablishment of the Mounted Patrol in October 1984. In 2009 funds were received and the mounted unit moved to its current facility. The current Mounted Patrol barn sets on 15 acres, 5.5 acres which are cross fenced turn out pasture area. The barn consists of forty-six 14' X 2' wide stalls which include a 45' long X 12' wide outside run attached. Today, Mounted Patrol is part of Strategic Operations, Homeland Security Command, and Special Operations Division. The downtown business district and Hermann Park are the primary focus of Mounted Patrol. But periodically, the mounted unit is given assignments to work with patrol divisions who are having particular crime issues in a specific neighborhood. After visiting the barn we will enjoy lunch at Pappa's BBQ. Please stop by the center or visit hcp4.net/events to register. All trips are subject to change.
