Cypress-Tomball Democrats Monthly Meeting

The Cypress-Tomball Democrats will hold its next monthly meeting, Monday, April 17, 2023, at Rudy’s Grill and Cantina, located at 11790 Grant Rd, Cypress, TX 77429. Our speakers will be Richard C. Shaw, Robert Locander, and Kevin Bailey – The Real World of Texas Politics

Richard C. Shaw - For over 43 years Richard was active in the Texas union movement.  Shaw retired in 2017 from his position as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Harris County AFL-CIO Council.  Prior to his 1995 election to the labor council, he had been with Houston Federation of Teachers, AFSCME Local 1550 and a Vice President of the Texas AFL-CIO. 

Robert Locander - Robert holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of New Mexico.  Locander has been a long-time faculty member at Lone Star College – North Harris.  He has also taught courses on politics at Lamar University, the University of Houston, and the University of Houston-Downtown. 

Kevin Bailey - In 1990, Kevin ran and won an election to the Texas House of Representatives for District 140.  During his 18 years as a legislator in Austin, Bailey chaired the House Urban Affairs and General Investigating Committees.  He was one of the co-founders of the Legislative Study Group in the House. 

All are welcome to attend and to join this growing club, which meets on the third Monday of every month.
