Description

As part of Fort Bend County Libraries’ Summer Reading Challenge, Cinco Ranch Branch Library will host a free recycled art workshop for students entering grades 4–8. The program will take place on June 26, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, in the library’s Meeting Room.

Led by Charles Washington, a teaching artist with Young Audiences of Houston, this hands-on workshop encourages students to use recycled materials to create unique works of art.

Participants will:
  • Work with a variety of mediums such as drawing, painting, and sculpture
  • Explore the concept of found-object art
  • Develop critical thinking and environmental awareness
  • Learn how to transform everyday items into meaningful artwork

Charles Washington is a noted environmental and mixed-media artist, drawing inspiration from African pastoral life, American jazz, and free-form design.

Registration is required and opens on June 19 at 3:00 PM. Space is limited. This free art class for tweens is made possible by the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library.

Register online here, call 281-395-1311, or visit the library in person.
