Families looking for a fun and educational summer activity in Houston are invited to Colonial Day at Kleb Woods Nature Preserve and Center on July 17 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Hosted by Precinct 4 Naturalists, this free event offers a hands-on introduction to everyday life during the Colonial period.

Led by experienced educators, the event blends learning with playful activities that immerse participants in historic daily chores and games.

Highlights include:
  • Churn butter, beat rugs, wash clothes, and fill a bath—just like Colonial Americans did
  • Play traditional Colonial games once the chores are done
  • Discover how early settlers lived, worked, and played through interactive demonstrations
  • Free admission and suited for school-aged children and families

Kleb Woods Nature Preserve and Center, located in northwest Harris County, is a 133-acre preserve offering nature programs, educational exhibits, and a glimpse into Texas history. It’s a family-friendly destination for learning and exploration.
