On July 16, from 2–3 p.m., families and young nature lovers are invited to John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center for A Closer Look at Nature: Fish!, an engaging, hands-on science event exploring the diversity and ecosystems of fish.

The John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center is a community learning hub within the larger park that offers a scenic setting for outdoor exploration and environmental education. This free program is perfect for kids, homeschool families, and anyone interested in aquatic life.

Event highlights include:
  • A hands-on buoyancy experiment using a plastic 2-liter bottle—bring one from home!
  • Creation of your own Cartesian diver to take home
  • Educational discussion on over 30,000 species of fish and their freshwater and marine ecosystems
  • Led by knowledgeable naturalists from Harris County Precinct 4
