Girl Scouts of Central Texas Launch 2026 Cookie Season with New Exploremores™ and Time-Honored Traditions

January 12 2026

It’s nearly cookie season in the Greater Austin Area, and Girl Scouts of Central Texas are ready to unbox the future — one cookie at a time. From Austin to Killeen to Temple, girls in green sashes and vests are sharpening their sales pitches, building confidence, and learning skills that will last a lifetime.

And this year, there’s even more to be excited about.

Introducing Exploremores™ to the Cookie Lineup

The 2026 Girl Scout Cookie™ season includes a brand-new addition to the beloved lineup: Exploremores™, a rocky road–inspired sandwich cookie packed with chocolate wafers and filled with marshmallow and toasted almond–flavored crème. It’s a bold new flavor that perfectly captures the adventurous spirit of Girl Scouts.

Of course, fan favorites are also back:

  • Thin Mints® – crisp and cool, the national best-seller
  • Caramel deLites® – caramel, coconut, and chocolate
  • Peanut Butter Patties® – rich and peanut buttery, covered in chocolate
  • Adventurefuls® – brownie-style cookies with caramel crème
  • Peanut Butter Sandwich - oatmeal cookies with peanut butter center
  • Trefoils® – the classic shortbread cookie
  • Lemonades® – shortbread cookies with a lemon frosting
  • Caramel Chocolate Chip – gluten-free with caramel and semi-sweet chocolate chips

“Girl Scout Cookie season is always a moment of joy and tradition, and this year promises to be incredibly exciting,” said Wendy Lou, who leads the national cookie program. “We're thrilled to introduce the new, delicious Exploremores™ cookie to the iconic cookie lineup people know and love. With every purchase, consumers directly support local Girl Scouts' abilities to explore more opportunities in STEM, the outdoors and more.”

A Program Over 100 Years in the Making

The Girl Scout Cookie Program began in 1917, and since then, it has grown into the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world. What started with a small troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma baking cookies at home and selling them in their high school cafeteria has turned into a nationwide movement that teaches critical life skills like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

In Central Texas, Girl Scouting began in Austin in 1921, with 16 girls forming what would become Troop 1. The region’s legacy includes the first all-Black troop west of the Mississippi in 1936 and desegregation of Camp Texlake in 1954. Today, Girl Scouts of Central Texas serves 46 counties and continues this progressive spirit.

Girl Scouts of Central Texas use cookie proceeds to fund outdoor experiences at Camp Texlake, STEM badge programs, leadership retreats, community service projects, and financial assistance for girls in underserved communities.

From Brownies planning their first overnight trip to Ambassadors funding Gold Award projects, every box sold helps local girls grow into the leaders our communities need.

Adobe Joins as National Sponsor

This year’s cookie season also features a powerful new digital learning tool, thanks to Adobe. The creative software company is sponsoring a national educational video on the Digital Cookie® platform, helping girls express their individuality, build design skills, and practice responsible online communication — all while running their cookie business in a digital age.

Find Cookies Across Central Texas

Cookie season in Central Texas runs January 14 through March 1, 2026, and it’s easier than ever to find your favorite flavors. If you know a Girl Scout, give her a call. Otherwise, visit the Girl Scout Cookie Finder or text COOKIES to 59618 to find local booths or order cookies online.

Your purchase supports girls in Central Texas as they discover who they are, what they care about, and how they can make a difference — all while sharing a sweet treat with their community.
