Rotary Club of Katy Awards Over $120,000 in Scholarships to Support 23 Katy ISD Students' College Dreams
In a recent ceremony held at Rustic Beckendorff Farms in Katy, the Rotary Club of Katy recognized 23 students from the Katy Independent School District (KISD) with scholarships to support their college education. Driven by a steadfast commitment, the Rotary Club presented over $120,000 in scholarships to these extraordinary young individuals.
Since 2013, the Katy Rotary has awarded 199 scholarships, amounting to a generous total of $646,500. Each year, the total amount awarded escalates, making a tangible difference in the lives of students. Fundraising events, including the renowned Katy Triathlon, the Katy Rice Harvest Festival, and the nationally recognized Wild West Brewfest, supply the scholarship fund, channeling every sponsored dollar back into the Katy community.
The scholarship program emphasizes both merit and need, illustrating the Rotary Club of Katy's belief in nurturing the potential in every student. This support extends beyond academic excellence, honoring the courage to dream beyond the ordinary.
Seth Janak, a James E. Taylor High School alum, and Ainslie Ferguson, a Cinco Ranch graduate, are two among the many students whose life journeys have been positively affected by these scholarships. Seth says the scholarship will allow him to attend his dream school, Texas A&M, while Ainslie will be able to pursue her ambition to become a biomedical engineer at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Jaime Corona, President of the Rotary Club of Katy, eloquently emphasized the importance of supporting students, stating, "Our students are the heartbeat of tomorrow. Their dreams are our legacy. Together, we build bridges to brighter horizons."
The Rotary Club of Katy, rooted in the community, thrives on its motto, "Service Above Self". The club extends an open invitation for more individuals to volunteer and contribute to their meaningful cause.
