Fort Bend Junior Service League Opens 2025 Scholarship Applications for Aspiring Female Scholars and Adult Learners

September 26 2024

The Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) has officially opened the application period for its annual Scholarship Awards, kicking off a season of opportunity for aspiring learners in Fort Bend County. The FBJSL is set to award up to seven scholarships in the spring of 2025 for use in the 2025-2026 academic year.

The FBJSL, a committed and dynamic organization of women promoting volunteerism and developing the potential of women in the Fort Bend County community, will offer six $1,000 Volunteer Scholarships and one $2,000 New Beginnings Scholarship. This initiative is a direct reflection of the League's commitment to enhancing education and elevating career opportunities in their community.

The Volunteer Scholarships target female high school seniors, who have shown exceptional dedication to community service and volunteerism. To be considered, these seniors must have completed at least 100 hours of community service, maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, and plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college or university.

On the other hand, the New Beginnings Scholarship is designed specifically for adult women residing in Fort Bend County who are returning to formal education after a break. The intent is to empower these women by amplifying their career opportunities through continued education. To qualify, applicants must have been accepted into an accredited college, university, or vocational school and demonstrate a financial need.

This is all a part of the FBJSL’s larger mission, providing an atmosphere of friendliness, goodwill, and camaraderie for all members while working towards making the Fort Bend community a better place. Since its inception in 2001, proceeds from various FBJSL events and fundraisers have allowed the League to contribute more than $5.75 million to non-profit agencies within the Fort Bend community.

Interested applicants can access more details and the application forms on the FBJSL website. The deadline to submit an application is February 1, 2025. The link to their website is fbjsl.org/scholarship-programs

As the FBJSL continues to foster educational development through its annual scholarship program, it remains an embodiment of its commitment to volunteerism, and the development of women in the Fort Bend County community.
