REMINDER: Katy’s Fall Community Garage Sale Returns Nov. 7 With a Citywide Map for Treasure Hunters
For Katy residents who have been meaning to tackle an overflowing closet, clear some space in the garage or hunt for a secondhand find close to home, one of the city’s familiar fall traditions is returning.
The Keep Katy Beautiful Fall Community Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, bringing individual neighborhood sales together into one community-wide event. Residents can register their own garage sales, while shoppers will be able to use a citywide map to plan a Saturday morning route through participating homes and businesses.
Beyond finding a bargain, the event also gives household items another chance to be used instead of discarded, tying directly into Keep Katy Beautiful’s focus on reducing waste in the community.
How to Join the Katy Community Garage Sale
Residents who want their sale included on the official list of participating locations must submit their registration by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Registration allows Keep Katy Beautiful and the City of Katy to publish the participating address on a public list and Google Map that may be shared through the city website, social media and other locations around Katy.
For shoppers, that map is expected to be available by noon Thursday, Nov. 5, giving bargain hunters time to look over participating locations and map out their stops before Saturday.
Garage sales will take place rain or shine at the discretion of each participating resident, so shoppers may want to check individual locations if the weather turns uncertain.
The Community Garage Sale is held twice each year, in the spring and fall, creating a recurring opportunity for neighbors to sell items they no longer need and for other families to find furniture, children's items, home décor, tools, clothing and other secondhand goods without traveling far from home.
A Garage Sale With a Waste-Reduction Purpose
Keep Katy Beautiful promotes the event around a simple idea: reduce, reuse, recycle and rebuy.
That philosophy fits into the organization's larger mission to improve Katy's environmental health through beautification, litter prevention and waste reduction. Keep Katy Beautiful focuses much of its work in three areas: community cleanups and litter mitigation, beautification and greening projects, and recycling and waste-reduction efforts.
A community garage sale may seem like a small part of that work, but the connection is practical. A lamp, bicycle, set of dishes or piece of furniture purchased from a neighbor is one less item that may be thrown away and one less new item that another household has to purchase.
It also makes reuse feel less like a formal environmental program and more like something neighbors have been doing for generations: passing along useful things rather than letting them go to waste.
Keep Katy Beautiful’s Role in the Community
Keep Katy Beautiful works with the City of Katy on projects and programs designed to improve public spaces and encourage residents to take an active role in caring for their community.
The organization is affiliated with both Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful, connecting Katy with broader statewide and national efforts centered on litter prevention, recycling, beautification and environmental stewardship.
Its work extends beyond recycling programs. Keep Katy Beautiful has also supported public art and beautification projects throughout the city, including murals, decorated utility boxes and other installations designed to reflect Katy's history and community character.
The Keep Katy Beautiful Board itself is a City of Katy board whose responsibilities include developing long-range beautification plans, recommending improvement projects and encouraging residents to participate in efforts that improve the city.
That emphasis on resident participation is especially visible during events like the Community Garage Sale, when the city provides the framework but individual households make the event happen one driveway at a time.
For Shoppers, Half the Fun Is the Hunt
For people who enjoy garage sales, the citywide format can turn an ordinary Saturday morning into a tour of Katy neighborhoods.
Instead of relying on scattered signs or searching for individual garage sales near Katy, shoppers can use the participating-location map to build a route ahead of time. Families looking for children's items, new homeowners searching for inexpensive furnishings, collectors hoping to stumble across something unusual and anyone who simply enjoys the hunt can all approach the morning differently.
And because each sale is organized by the resident hosting it, no two stops are likely to look the same.
That neighborhood-to-neighborhood experience is part of what has kept garage sales relevant even as online resale marketplaces have grown. There is still something distinctly local about walking up a driveway, spotting something unexpected and buying it from someone who may live only a few streets away.
What Katy Residents Need to Know
The Keep Katy Beautiful Fall Community Garage Sale takes place Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
Residents who want their addresses included on the official list should register by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. The participating-location map is scheduled to be available by noon Thursday, Nov. 5, allowing shoppers to plan their routes before sale day.
For Katy households, the event offers a practical excuse to finally sort through things that have been accumulating at home. For shoppers, it creates a chance to find something useful, unusual or inexpensive nearby.
And collectively, all of those small transactions support a larger idea that Keep Katy Beautiful has been promoting throughout the city: sometimes the most useful thing someone can do with an unwanted item is simply help it find a new home.
