Harris County Precinct 3 Expands Senior Bus Program with 3 New Buses, Dozens of Spring 2026 Trips Now Open

March 04 2026

For residents across Harris County Precinct 3, getting out and exploring Texas just became a little easier.

Harris County Precinct 3 has added three new buses to its growing fleet, expanding transportation opportunities for adults 50 and older. The addition strengthens one of the precinct’s longest-running community services — a program that began modestly in 1989 with a single 15-passenger van and has since grown into a 19-bus fleet dedicated to serving senior organizations and community groups.

For many local families, this isn’t just about transportation. It’s about connection, accessibility, and ensuring longtime residents remain active and engaged in the broader Harris County community.

A Program Built for Community Connection

Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey’s Senior Bus Trip Program offers free day trips for Precinct 3 residents aged 50 and older. The buses are wheelchair accessible and mobility friendly, helping remove transportation barriers for seniors who may otherwise find it difficult to travel.

Each trip requires a minimum of 10 participants and includes a detailed itinerary provided at boarding. Attendance is limited to two participants per household or group for most trips, helping ensure broad community access.

The program also accepts group reservations for churches, assisted-living communities, and social clubs serving adults 50+. Reservations are currently open through June 2026, with July through December 2026 spots becoming available beginning April 14, 2026.

Residents can book individual trips online through the Precinct 3 registration portal or request a group bus trip through the Harris County Precinct 3 Bus Reservation Form. First-time groups must complete the Trip Coordinator and Group Information Form.

For questions, residents may contact transportation@pct3.hctx.net or call 832-927-6820.

Why This Matters for Breckenridge Park

Programs like the Harris County Precinct 3 Senior Bus Trips help older residents remain socially active, culturally engaged, and connected beyond neighborhood boundaries.

It also provides peace of mind for adult children and caregivers who know their loved ones can travel safely on wheelchair-accessible buses without the stress of navigating traffic, parking, or long drives.

As Harris County continues to grow, expanded transportation services reflect an investment not just in infrastructure, but in quality of life for longtime residents.

How to Register for Harris County Precinct 3 Bus Trips

What Happens Next

As spring events and Texas festival season approach, residents are encouraged to check availability early and join wait lists where applicable.
