Katy resident Gregg Nady, who has spent the last 23 years advocating for hike and bike trails in West Houston, has started an online petition to support extending the Mason Creek Hike & Bike Trail north of I-10. The petition has just over 800 signatures, and Nady’s goal is 1,000. Public support plays a key role in whether such projects are approved.

Harris County Precinct 4 is currently considering a grant application that would provide funding to construct the 3.15 mile trail extension north of I-10 (it currently dead ends on the south side of I-10 just west of Rudy’s BBQ restaurant). The trail extension would allow Nottingham Country residents to safely ride bikes to businesses on the north side of I-10. The route would also serve as a community bikeway for many large businesses located there.

If approved, the trail would be connected with 30 miles of trails, including the George Bush Hike and Bike Trail, Terry Hershey Park and Cullen Park. To see the proposed map and sign the petition, please click here: https://chng.it/MTgKKSwP.

Nady has worked to establish more than 25 trails in our area. If you have questions about this trail or any of the projects he’s currently working on, please email him here: gnady@sbcglobal.net.
