Signorelli and First America Homes Raise $278K for Veterans and At-Risk Families through GHBA Benefit Homes Project
In a show of generosity and hometown pride, First America Homes and The Signorelli Company have contributed $278,562 to support local veterans and vulnerable families through the Greater Houston Builders Association’s (GHBA) annual Benefit Homes Project. The funds were raised through the sale of a new home built in Bluestem, Signorelli’s master-planned community in Brookshire, Texas, just northwest of Katy.
This year’s Benefit Homes Project home — a 2,416-square-foot Mansfield design from First America Homes’ Heritage Collection — was constructed with donations from 40 vendors and trade partners. From the land itself to high-end finishes like a luxury primary bath, built-in wine rack, and custom outdoor kitchen, every detail was part of a larger effort to give back.
“First America Homes is known for the extra measures we take to produce a quality product and the pride we take in our work,” said Dave Barnhart, president of First America Homes. “We extend a big thank you to our many vendors and suppliers who supported us in this effort. Building a great home for someone and supporting our community made the project especially rewarding for our team. We hope the owners enjoy their new home and make many special memories there.”
The Benefit Homes Project, now in its 45th year, has raised over $14 million for local charities. Each year, GHBA members donate time, materials, land, and services to build and sell two homes at market value. The proceeds support three key nonprofits:
- Operation Finally Home, which builds mortgage-free homes and offers home modifications for wounded military veterans and first responders
- HomeAid Houston, which funds transitional shelters and services for families and individuals at risk of homelessness
- GHBA’s Charitable Foundation, which provides scholarships and career development for future homebuilders

“This is a tremendous example of the way that our local builders and developers reinvest in the heart of our community,” said Aimee Bertrand, executive vice president and CEO of the Greater Houston Builders Association. “The teams at Signorelli and First America Homes aren’t just developing land and building homes, they are truly building our community’s support for those who need it most via the Benefit Homes program and this incredible donation.”
The home was built on a homesite donated by Signorelli in Bluestem, a 365-acre master-planned community in Waller County that opened for sales last spring. Zoned to the growing Royal ISD, Bluestem features scenic trails, a central plaza, and upcoming amenities like a pickleball court, playground, and community pavilion. Home prices currently range from $229,990 to $400,000, appealing to first-time buyers and growing families alike.
“It is an honor to partner with GHBA on such a high-impact charitable project,” said Danny Signorelli, CEO and founder of The Signorelli Company. “Giving back to our community is an important part of our culture and I’m proud and grateful to our team and to our many trade partners for their excellent work and support.”
The Mansfield home featured five bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a suite of upgrades made possible by trade partner donations — from an iron staircase railing to a metal roof accent and a spacious 10-by-20 covered patio, ideal for outdoor gatherings in Bluestem’s tranquil environment.
For organizations like HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home, this year’s donation will directly support families on the edge of homelessness and veterans in need of stable, safe housing.
